  1. Two of the greatest defensive boxers , all in all two great boxers , at Lightweight who would prevail ?

I cant call it , although I would put my money on it going to a decision

Nostalgia and Mayweather hate creeps in her.

I'm definitely not a Mayweather fan, but this is a 50/50 fight.

Pete, something like 8-4. The jab is key.

Precision, elusiveness, counterpunching and speed, Whitaker edges Mayweather in all his key strengths. What a boring ****ing fight it would be though.

If he's winning any rounds, they most certainly wouldn't be the early ones. Mayweather has almost always taken his time adapting to his better opponents or needed time to get his gameplan under way. He lost 3 of the first 4 rounds to Judah because of his southpaw style and speed, and Zab wasn't fit to shine Pete's shoes. I think we'd see Mayweather legitimately discouraged for maybe the first time in his career in the early goings. He may have more success later on, but never enough to take over the fight, even if Pete does his usual coasting, clowning routine at the end when he feels he has the fight won.

I would be for the Pea.

  12. Whitaker would not be able to coast against an opponent like Mayweather absolutley not , i think Mayweather would use his jab much like he did against JMM i know Whitakers a southpaw but i think the jab would be the key for mayweather and those straight right hands , its obviously a close matchup , but Mayweather would be the fastest opponent Whitaker ever faced for sure

I didn't say he'd be coasting throughout the fight, he just had a tendancy to do that sort of thing towards the end, i.e. the last round or two if he felt he had it cinched up. I think he'd be all business with Floyd for the duration of the fight.

Mayweather would be well advised to not get into a battle of the jabs. One, because he's facing a southpaw (which he's admitted himself to being a bit of a stylistic dilemma for him, and as Judah showed), and two because he's facing probably the best jab in the division's history and one of the very best in the history of the sport, period. Mayweather's straight right hand (which at times could be a bit of an achilles heel against Pete if you caught him at the right time with it) would be his best weapon in this fight.

I just don't think Mayweather would be able to dictate the pace in this one, and he's outdone in most of his core areas. Pete's jab and higher workrate would see him to a clear decision at the end of the day, I feel, although I don't deny Floyd would find some measure of success at some point, likely with that lead right, although he wouldn't be working his famed "pull-counter" on a southpaw like Pete.

Whitaker and Mayweather are two of the best talents in the whole history of the sport. Both are incredible athletes and fighters.(IMO)While Whitaker has achieved his ATG status by seeking out the best oponents of his era, Mayweather, who has ATG ability has not...Both would cause each other problems, but I see Whitaker being able to thread his jab through Mayweather's defense enough to disrupt Floyd's offense. Mayweather would find success at times with lead rights, timing Pea when he was throwing flurries to the body. Whitaker would surprise Floyd with his speed and ability to begin and end the exchanges, by using angles. Mayweather would also find find that when he threw lead left hooks or right hands, that this opponent would have the chance to counter him very well, because Whitaker could stay within punching range after slipping the shots. Mayweather would resort to wrestling, and pot shoting...but Whitaker still beats him at that game too...I like Whitaker by clear decision. I don't think we'll ever see another phenomenon like a Pernell Whitaker.
