A lot of the footwork in the video is good, its one of the better videos ive seen, however the lateral movement was a bad habit i carried into boxing from taekwondo, the way he does the lateral movement was the way we would move in and out in TKD, knowing what i know now i would make the steps so much smaller than are done in this video, the problems comes from the big steps hes taking and like you mentioned bomber it squares him up. smaller steps tend to stop this. because your no longer trying to drive further for the bigger step, there is no need to bring back the lead foot for that reason. so you can keep the lead foot where it is and still move laterally, with the smaller steps but not squaring up so much, hope this makes sense had to write it quick lol
They don't. Neuroadaptability is simply the ability for your nervous system to adapt to stimulus. This happens in pretty much any training, and is the basis of 'muscle memory'. proprioception is how aware you are of your own body parts. - this is useful for footwork because essentially you know ehere your feet are, although personally, tools like agility ladders tend to help better with this, and in a slightly more sport specific fashion. Big words only make you sound clever if you actually explain them.
:good I know what they mean, just wanted to hear what he had to say. Throwing terms like that out there is an exercise in futility, and charlatan behaviour.
Thought you would understand Guys, so whats the problem . Rope ladders on the floor dont do anything worthwhile,. When using the floor ladder, that other things wont do better. As far as Boxing we dont want to be looking at the feet to see what they are doing. Feel the Feet and incorperate the body in movement, thats the idea. Its surprising how well it works, when shadowboxing after, so people tell me.
Despite it soundign dubious to me, I'm going to give your balance exercise a go before I discount it. However, on the note of the agility ladder you are just plain wrong. The agility ladder builds and requires very good coordination to use at high speed - and will likely have more carryover into the ring than being able to balance on pipes without moving. ____________________________________________________________ On another note, has anyone tried shadow boxing wearing a blindfold? I imagine, so long as you didn't start too fast and used a large area, that it would probably be the easiest way to find out if your balance is lacking.
Onepunch, you are moving, 2" thats where speed response comes from, plus do it barefoot you get a foot massage, at the same time. Does wonders for the place where theres a lot of receptors for movement. now get a ladder in a ring corner to corner, chin high, theres a lot of fun there, a great way for movement.
Onepunch, the blindfold, been using it for years, it works. Also a thing you can try is patch the dominant eye, interesting.
I was cleaning out my apartment the other day and I found a strobe light... Thinking it'd be cool to do my conditioning (30sec/30sec burpees/shadowboxing, 3-4 rounds) in a dark room with that thing going. Potential to help with balance and coordination? Or at least disorient me?
The rope ladders do help make your feet faster. Once you learn the technique and get the balance, then you're going to want speed and that's where the ladders help. Do the agility drills for football and jumprope at a fast weight and it'll get you faster. What I do when I jump rope is: jump rope for 6 rounds and then wears ankle weights the 5th round and then take them off the 6th. You could do more rounds with the ankle weights, but I don't know how that'll affect your joints so be careful
