Carl Froch is a good boxer and a great fighter. Ive had enough of people on this forum talking about him as if his Abraham win was some kind of one off. Dont forget about his amateur pedigree, if my memory serves me right hes the second man ever to win two ABA senior titles. Now about his defense, saying hes got no defense is ridiculous, i agree he takes far too many shots than he needs to but never more than he can cope with. There are 3ways to defend, by slipping, blocking or moving away, the last of which is his preferred method. He keeps his hands low but usually relies on his footwork to avoid to brunt of shots. At the end fo the day Carl is the most exciting Champion weve got atm, taking nothing away from the others, hes got everything: Power Good attitude, ducks no one (Anyone who thinks he ducked Calzaghe as ive seen before can **** right off) A granite chin Sense of humour Confidence and... best of all Have you seen his bird?? Now i expect to hear no more bad mouthing of the most underappreciated British sportsman around atm regards [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4s_Vdb55wR0[/ame]
We all know Buncey has a tendency of going over the top when he has his 'rants' but when he bigged up the quality of Froch's last 5 opponents he wasnt over doing it he was SPOT ON. Even the elite fighters take on an easy mandatory sometimes you know! Time and time again we are left frustrated when the big fights dont get made due to money, ego's, overly cautious promoters etc and we have a guy in Froch who'll go in there with world class operators with very varied styles and win 4-5 (and perform well in the Kessler loss) and unlike the other proclaimed best in the division isnt scared of leaving his back yard to fight. We'll see if he's the best SMW in the world, Ward just might be special (Bute certainly isnt) but we Brits should be proud to have a champ like Carl Froch; this forum on the whole is getting most votes in a recent favourite British fighter poll. Sky do a ton of good for boxing it keeps it alive in this country but they've missed a trick not backing Carl Froch obviously. And yes I agree with the op his boxing skills are unappreciated but alot of that tbf is Froch's fault for relying too much on his warrior like abilities when fighting to strategy often would have made fights easier and gotten the win over Kessler. But hey thats what alot of us like about the cobra
People quite often talk about him as a gatti like fighter, exciting and loved but lacking too much technical skill, a brawler. but hes much more rounded than that. Also any excuse to show some love for the cobra
Froch is my favourite fighter boxing out of Britain right now and it terms of worldwide, his resume is a match for anybody over the past two years. It's a disgusting shame the way he has been promoted in this country when far lesser fighters gain so much more coverage. Apparently Sky might finally be willing to take him on board but it's at least two years too late....although better late than never.
Theyll be able to put together a highlight reel that will certainly attract some attention from the general public
