To be fair, its 14 fights on a Sunday afternoon card with tickets from 20e for children and 40e for adults. Bloody brilliant value in my opinion and i am gutted I am going to miss it to be honest. Its basically an X-Factor audition to see who gets on the Casey bill and a chance to get to see a lot of Irish fighters in action.
agreed Slap! I am looking forward to the top of the bill too- Fitz Murts should be tense if nothing else.. I am also dying to see Paul Griffin in live action, never had the privledge previously
Rumour has it Rigo will be in attendance to taunt Casey:deal @ Jonnythehips what about Christina McMahon does she have an opponent?
the list printed on the website is the list i got no mention of Ireland's first female pro... hope she gets a good bout on the March 19 show
There is a piece in the Sunday World today about Duddy. A tabloid special, trying to sensationally reveal or insinuate that Duddy quit boxing because he had a leaky defence (Jaysus well I never....). He also regales a tale were he interviewed Duddy a few years ago in a bar in New York and reports that at the end of the night Duddy was blocked and couldnt stand and basically inviting the reader to believe that this could be another reason why Duddy didnt (but should have) become a world champion.:nut
I can't argue with the price factor as I agree it is excellent value and the headline is potentially a good fight. My annoyance lies with the fact our prospects will learn nothing from these fights and an afternoon of sparring in the gym would serve more purpose. The British journeymen (Greaves, Thorpe etc.) are usually available within a few weeks notice and they are much more capable of teaching the Irish lads a thing or two - probably a bit pricier but worth their salt at the end of the day. Maybe I am looking into this too much and hopefully when some of the lads box on the Casey bill, the opposition will be better. :good
didnt know that, thanks slappy- well ireland's first home based pro female to fight more than one bout! but thanks for highlighting the error!
Hips, can you confirm or not that the irish-boxing.com awards will be held on the day too? That should bring a few if it is the case
