McCloskey considers that Khan negotiations are going well

Same here man... At this stage I'd doubt if he was only offered something like €50,000...

If he doesnt take the fight then he would seriously driop down in my estimation. I mean, even if he loses and looks good a lot of decent match ups can happen for him off the back of this one fight...

 

**** all that. If Khan gave a **** about his fans he'd put on a decent fight at home and not worry too much about the cash. Give the fans who put you where you are a decent fight ffs. I'm sick of all this greed in boxing. I appreciate it's a business but good business means the customer is always right. So look after them, at least once in a while.

 

agreed maidana is a big name, a bigger name than mccloskey.

rightly or wronly - khan v mccloskey would sell out the MEN quicker than khan v maidana.

i notice you acknowledge that maidana "only" got 550,000 thousand dollars so i assume you accept that the purse was small and that he deserved more?? i would tend to agree but i would also argue that khan's people appear to be offering poor purses and that mccloskey shouldn't necessarily dive in and take a poor offer just because maidana did imo.. especially when he has other options..

mccloskey should take the fight if the offer is £300K or £250K with no ridiculous terms and conditions. i think he desrves more but he should accept that purse if its on offer

Ah here man, €200-€250,000 is about right and fair I think.

I mean he's fighting for a world title here. Ok he's ranked top 10, but truthfully this is his first forray into the 'world' scene and asking for anymore than say 200,000 is asking a a bit much. Khan has all the star power, whether you like it or not, he is the champion, he is the only one of the two known to US audiences....

As I said if he wins (please god) or puts up a great show his demands can go up...

 

Khan goes to the press and claims McCloskey is over pricing himself.If that is the problem why doesn't Khan tell us what the offer is?Khan wants it both ways,he negotiates through the press to make the other guy look bad - but doesn't tell us the truth about the offer.

Good point. It's annoying as **** how Khan plays all his negotiations off against each other in the press to try and get the best deal for himself yet never actually informs the public of anything.

McCloskey's Manager was the one who first brang up the Money issue.

McCloskey's was given a first offer, which is 3x his last payday. - This is NOT speculation!

He's now been offered a SECOND offer, which is HIGHER. Now go figure how much that works out to be and come back.

 

The first offer included that ridiculous clause which signed McCloskey to GBP if he won didn't it? Who would agree to that?

The clause is the least of the problems. Why has that clause not been mentioned since if it was a Problem?

Money is the issue, and if McCloskey doesn't take the second offer, it really is shocking after talking about how Khan is 'scared'.

I do expect him to take it though.

Money wasn't the major issue with the Marquez fight. Khan wanted his third defense in the UK, and HBO weren't paying enough for it, so Marquez went for Katsidis.

It's not about career high paydays anyway, they could offer me **** all and it would be a career high payday. It's about percentages.
