I disagree. This isn't hyping Khan vs Mccloskey at all really, the only media it's generating is "Amir Khan could fight <insert the list of speculated names>". If your going to use negotiations as a means to hype a fight you ensure that what you put out is always focused on the two fighters, only adding in other opponents names as a side story. Haye Klitscho or Mayweather Pac are instances of this sort of, although it's not always intentional, it hypes up the fight even more.
I was reading BN on the bus on Saturday morning and some random old geezer interrupted me to ask whether Khan was going to fight McCloskey. I told him me and Khan's personal representative, Lazarus, were as tight as blood brothers, and that he was keeping me up to date on developments. The old crazy geezer seemed well impressed.:good EDIT: first paragraph TRUE, second paragraph FALSE.
Is anyone else a bit annoyed? I mean I know mcloskey is british/commonwealth/european champ and it is the next step for him, but I can't help but think khan could have used this spot to either take revenge, increase exposure, have a huge homecoming or actually have a meaningful fight. For me mcloskey ticks none of the boxes. I haven't followed his whole career tho, my basic question is about his ability. Is mcloskey as good as murray? I don't think so.
He's Euro level for sure, he hasn't chanced his way to where he is. The problem is though, this is as far as he'll ever get. I've only followed the guy as far as his last 5 bouts so am not sure why he turned pro so late, but he doesn't nor will ever have, world class abilities. Saying that he's a better boxer (technically) than Maidana, but does he have the punch to trouble Khan in order to level the playing field like Maidana did..?
The MEN news seem pretty certain that Murray is Khans next opponent. http://menmedia.co.uk/manchestereve...the_flood_victims_of_****stan_urges_amir_khan
All different papers report different things, in america the networks are begging him to fight either prescot or peterson, manchester is saying he'll fight murray and some say he'll fight paul. I Just want them to announce and put tickets on sale!
your probably on the money. just my mind becoming sceptical! either way its not bad publicity if they do pull it off
yeah - the mainstream media UTV, BBC northern ireland and RTE have all reported on it. obviously khan is a big name and would be familiar to people with only a passing knowledge of boxing.. naturally sports radio programs (off the ball- newstalk radio 106-108) and the like are all over it.. actually off the ball is a good source of sports news in general, check out the site sometime; http://www.newstalk.ie/programmes/all/offtheball/
Latest news: Lamont Peterson looks like he's back in play. He is the current favourite to face Khan now. Breen needs to get real. If McCloskey doesn't accept the SECOND offer Khan has given him, then there's no fight. Just spoke to Amir's uncle
