There's a poster called Bobby Sinn who can probably best answer your question LL - hopefully he'll see your post and reply mate.

Cliffy is doing OK. Spoke to him a couple of weeks back.

Bobby will give a better response.

    Cheers

Cliff became fed up with being ripped off/not paid for fights. His last 3 fights were unpaid. A mate of his offered him some work up north, so he took it.

Pity, as those who saw him, including some who've been involved in boxing for 60+ years considered Cliff as the equal or second greatest waste of talent they've seen go down the gurgler.. Cliff and Sid Prior being the standard mentions.

No mate, Sid Prior was Aust Welter Champ in 1962. I never heard him nicknamed that mate. His record is pretty short.. 15 fights, 14 wins?? Old folk who saw him made comparisons between him and Darcy. Prior quit the game after a dispute with his Manager who was taking 30+% of his purse.

Careful Ippy, dodgy managers dont prosper.. :)

Who was his trainer and manager for his last three fights, Bobby Sinn? I know this has become a cliche, it should be reserved for exceptionally rare cases like this, Cliff was world championship material. He had the goods that man.

    cliff was something special.

Having lived in country australia, there is some real awesome aboriginal talent going to waste. They start off as promising but then get pulled into bad habbits (grog etc), or tribal issues which force them to stop. Aboriginal fighters have amongst the best reflexes that I have ever seen.
