wlad can't fight inside so i'd say all the guys with a good inside game knock wlad out, tyson, holyfield and mercer.

I agree that prime Wlad (the late 2000s version) probably does beat them all, he has matured into a fearsome heavyweight. However, would you not agree that Lewis beat guys in his early-mid career phase (eg Ruddock, Mercer, Golota) who were easily better than the guys who beat Wlad in his early-mid career phase (eg Purrity, Brewster, Sanders)?

Although I suppose the counter to that argument would be, if McCall and Rahman were able to stop Lewis on a given night, then how can we say the likes of Sanders and Brewster couldn't have done so on a given night as well?

    Stupid thread.

Who wins in a fantasy matchup between wlad, sanders, brewster and purrity? People would have picked wlad to **** them, but history shows he gets knocked out three times.

It is impossible to say how wlad does.

Personally I rate wlad really highly and would favour him vs the majority of lewis's opponents. But noone can say for definite.

Prime Ray Mercer looks like the toughest fight to me, especially if they have to fight in that tiny ring.

That is assuming it is a prime Wlad fighting all of Lewis' opponents. If Wlad's career were simply started ten years earlier (i.e he was 34 in 2001) I expect he'd lose one or two fights by TKO and then (if properly managed) adjust his style and come back to be the fighter he is now

Wlad at his absolute peak is good enough to beat them all, with a possible exception of Holyfield and Vitali. However, Wlad has had too many bad performances to make this claim. Against Tua, Holyfield, Vitali, Briggs, Tyson, McCall, Golota, Mercer, Bruno and Razor, as well as plenty of solid opponents, I can't see Wlad making it through without a couple of losses in there. Every single one of the three fighters above is better than any opponent who beat Wlad, so it's entirely possible he'd have 6 or 7 losses against the same opponents. When you consider how badly he was hurt against Peter and Brewster, I'd have a hard time imagining Tua, who is far better than both, not doing an even better job.

Wlad doesn't have the chin or mental strength to surpass Lewis' record, I don't think. Having said that, he's good enough to beat every one but I think it's more likely that he'd end up with 6 or 7 defeats. Probably against guys he's should beat, like Tua, Holyfield, Briggs, Vitali, Mercer and Bruno.

for as good as wladimir is, he would still of lost a couple of times to the guys lewis fought. This might seem harsh, but wladimir is a poor version of lewis. he has the same sort of style, but lewis was quite abit better in many departments.

If these are the versions that Lewis fought?

Wlad would likely lose to: Vitaly, Mercer, Tua, Holyfield and Ruddock.

50/50 with Bruno, Morrison, Briggs and Golota.

    Beats the rest.

    Well thought out argument. :thumbsup

Just because Sanders beat Wlad deosn't mean Sanders beats Lewis, just as Rahman knocked out Lewis doesn't mean he'd knock out Wlad. Even though they're similar styled fighters, Wlad & Lewis have enough differences to not assume those fights would go one way or the other.

Let's face it, Rahman & McCall got lucky just as Purrity, Sanders & Brewster got lucky.

we all say he beats the rest, but wladimir lost to the likes against brewster and sanders, neither of them were known as brilliant boxers.

    My thoughts exactly Jack.

Wlad hasn't fought a fighter in recent years who could move their feet and move outside the jab. Wlad has no inside game and has never fought against anyone remotely as good on the inside as the guys Jack has just listed.

Prime Vitali pummles his brother and stops him early in my opinion.

Wlad is the best their is today and is technically sound who uses his size advantage well against a crop of short fat guys. The likes of Golota and Ruddock would have negated that size difference and made it a war... we all know Wlad doesn't like being hit so sure as hell won't get involved in a war
