    I do know why.

Did you happen to see that incredibly bizarre video that was somehow released to the public of Valero's naked body in that jail cell and the device that he allegedly used to hang himself, namely his trousers (!) ?

Valero had also reportedly tried to file police complaints about people who were threatening his wife's life and his own.

    I don't know about Gatti.

    Its true.

In August 2009, Arum proposed to have Soto vs Valero on the Pac-Cotto unndercard.
At that time, Valero was living in Costa Mesa, California and training at a gym called South Coast Martial Arts Center (Costa Mesa, CA).

After Arum made his proposed Soto-Valero announcement, Valero packed up, and fled the country(US) to Venezuela, then pretended to come back, by himself, and told the INS agents, that he had a DUI/Loaded Firearm in car arrest incident from earlier in the year. The INS then denied his entry, and Valero had an "excuse" for not fighting Soto on the November Pac-Cotto card.

Arum, then tried to match up Valero vs Soto in Mexico many times, so that Valero would have no VISA issues, but Valero would make "excuses" for not fighting Soto on Dec. 5th in Cancun, and Dec. 19th too.

Its just that many are not aware of these, Valero duckings, cause Valero's promoter-Arum, his trainer-Robert Alcazar (Oscar DelaHoya's childhood trainer, and Oscar himself, are all covering-up Valero's ducking of Soto, by not having the boxing media like Fightnews.com, Boxnews.com, etc. publish the truth about Valero avoiding Soto.

and since Venezuela doesnt have a big name boxing star, Arum has told Soto's people to not expose Valero ducking him, and out of charity to Valero and Venezuela, remain silent on the issue.:patsch

    Soto KO's Pac 10 out of 10 times @140 or 147lbs.

When Soto has stepped in the ring in recent fights, he weighs about 144lbs, after having made the 135lbs official weigh-in limit the day before.

Paul Williams is ducking Soto. It would take him only one round to brutally knock him the **** out, unlike that clown Martinez (who is also ducking him)

Soto could KO Paul Williams @ 147lbs.

That tall lanky body of Williams would be easy target parctice for Soto's brutal bodypunches.

Joe Calzaghe retired instead of manning up and getting KO'd by Soto.
