Aren't you the guy who has championed Andre Dirrell for the last couple of years? The biggest ***** in the sport who faked an injury like a *****, actually cried on global TV, and then pretended to be injured so he didn't have to face his **** buddy? Christ...
I love strong personalities and colorful characters. Eubank, Hamed, Iron-Mike, Ali etc. are the guys that raised strong emotions and controversial feelings and brought excitement to the sport. No doubt Haye´s got these qualities, he has brought excitement to HW division (mostly by trash-talking, but still) and had boxing fans real pumped up when this Haye-Wlad -fight seemed to be a done-deal. If (and it seems when) Haye is only going to fight Mormeck and maybe some other nobody-outside-UK-wants-to-see -type of fight before his early retirement, I feel that he has been a huge disappointment. The way I see this, is that the Haye-hype is made on one thing only - to bring down the Eastern Giants from the HW thrones. That´s his role in the HW scene, to end the reign of Klitschkos. This what David has been talking about all the time (stalking K-Bros in restaurants, shopping-malls and challenging them). And if Haye won´t fight Wlad or Vitali at all (like it seems to be with David´s "dead in the water", "Chisora -fight prohibits me from fighting Wlad" -talks) Haye was just another short-time shooting star in the HW -division and resume-wise would end lower than for example Chagaev.
Haye refuses to fight his mandatory. Haye refuses to fight Povetkin, Boytsov, Vitali, Vlad, Chambers, Johnson, Thompson, but he wants to fight 39 year old Mormeck, of course. Double standard, Klitschkos fight their mandatories, Haye does not. Haye is boring, coward, liar, contract breaker, fake.
Exactly. I don't know how people can deny the excitement that Haye has brought. Seriously, without him, the division would be even more awful, just like it has been for the past few years. Boring one-sided mismatches, like Wlad/Chisora, Wlad/Adamek and Vitali/Solis that nobody really cares about.
Who's to say that Haye vs the Klitschko's isn't going to be another mismatch. I mean, Haye hasn't beat anybody good, and convincingly to suggest the fight will be competitive if he does fight the brother's....
Haye has brought us a bunch of crap fights at HW. Where you see the "excitement" is beyond me? What exactly was the excitement Haye as brought on the screen or inside of the ring so far? Nobody needs this con-artist version of Haye. If Haye retired tomorrow nobody would even notice. The HW division is as good or bad without him. Why didn't Haye try to get a super-fight done with Adamek, e.g. in NY MSG? Why didn't Haye say "I'll fight the winner of Wlad's or Vitali's fight in September, after my mandatory", just like Adamek did? Heck why didn't he try to lure a fat but at least technically skilled Solis into a fight, offering him a big 2 million pound purse or so, just to give us boxing fans a half-way decent matchup? Haye has done none of the above. He's intentionally sabotaging the HW division just like he says the Klits do.
ruiz fight was a good fight, valuev horrible, Harrison pathethic for almost 3 rounds until the last minute. Barrett fight was ok. He was more exciting at cruiser
Haye´s HW resume does have in it probably the worst HW title fight ever - the Harrison farce. In Valuev -fight he did (just barely, but still) what had to be done to bring down the giant. Barrett and Ruiz were decent opponents (Barret was his HW debut and Ruiz was still legitimate opponent for title fight. So all and all there´s only one crappy fight in his short HW resume. Excitement what Haye has brought can be seen for example in this forum. Practically everybody has a strong opinion about him and this "promised" unification fight had every boxingfan all over the world exited like we haven´t been for ages when it comes to HW division. In current ***********, I can´t name but one possible fight that would be a bigger event than Haye-Wlad and that´s May-Pac. And that also proves that Haye (with his bigger than Ireland -mouth) has brought excitement and tension to HW division. I agree with you about Haye´s retirement. If he retires without facing a Klitschko, he won´t be remembered much.
atsch Like Haye vs Vitaly or Wlad would be any different. Well, thinking about it maybe it would, cuz when Solis and adamek got chins which can make them survive for some rounds, david would be laying on the floor after the very first flush punch connected. There is Big tendency to overrate big hitters who arent fighting the best competition , but when they finally step up(recent abraham syndrome, guy was rated by half of esb in the top 10 p4p:nut) all of sudden people can see that there wasnt much substance behind it. Haye is the perfect example, but he may eventually never step up as he's such a *****.
What excitement? Where? When? I don't give a sh*t about some idiot talking. What's he done in the ring? (And don't bring up cruiser either, no one cares about the cruisers.) And for some reason you think your opinion matters discussing heavyweights. It is true. You said it in your opening post:
Amen. And when he is "exciting," it shows how amateurish he really is. Disgustingly sloppy punches. Poor footwork. No head movement. Just an awful fighter. No ifs, ands, or buts.
The only way to prove that Haye is one of the named by you is to actually show those talents. Before that - it is just a speculation with no ground under it. What exciting did Haye in HW? What talents did he show in HW? Who did he knocked out in HW? How HW benefited from this "needed fighter"? Unless you have answers to these questions, you can call Haye anything with equal success. Even the father of boxing.
