Tyson beat him twice, Bowe wouldn't fight because he'd rather dump belts than defend them & Lewis kicked that ass in 2 rounds. Holyfield avoided him? Don't think I heard that anywhere before.................until now of course.

If Ruddock was such a great boxer he would not have lost to Tommy Morrison. BTW, that was a helluva KO by Tommy too.

I was a Morrison fan way back but I knew Lennox was going to KO him and he did. I won money on that fight. Wlad would've knocked him out too.

Good post. People forget how 'dangerous' Ruddock was when Lewis fought him, I think Ruddock was the favourite in that fight and Lewis blew him out in devastating fashion.

I'd give that version of Ruddock a decent shot of landing on WALDO's china to be honest about it, same goes for a few other Lewis opponents. Bruno being one of them, Tyson, Holyfield, Tua, Mercer, Grant, Golota, Tucker, McCall, VITLAY obviously....hell I'd even give recently deceased Gary Mason a shot due to his pressure style and good chin/power, he was easily as good as Brewster.

All those WALDO fans that scoff at Bruno obviously never bothered to follow the mans career - he'd have given WALDO fits, and I'm not even a Bruno fan.

And me....especially the Bruno part. Bruno would put WALDO in a world of pain.

If Bruno lands his right hand on Wlad i think he would be sleeping!
Wlad big favourite though, but Bruno could concieveably be a nightmare for him.

You put Wlad in that tiny ring Lennox fought Mercer in and i think Wlad is in big trouble. When has Wlad ever stood and traded like that?
I ain't no Wlad hater, he is a good boxer and champion, but the man would have had an heart attack entering that small ring against Mercer. I dare say he may have pulled out of the fight.:yikes:yikes:yikes
Those long limbs are rendered pretty much useless in a ring that size.

Wlad would maybe KO him in the 11th or 12th but I would bet on a decision. Wlad is terrified of engaging people like Chambers untll Chambers was absolutely exhausted. He'd be shitting bricks over Morrison's hook landing on his fragile chin.

Because Lewis had more to play with rather than just a jab and straight right. Plus he was'nt scared to get wet. But when he chose to use his jab it was superior to Wladimir's.
And don't say Wlad has left hook in his arsenal either, because using it every 2-3 years does'nt apply has a weapon, more of an afterthought.

From memory (and I could be wrong) Ruddock was a favourite for that fight.

They signed the 4 way deal to set up a US matchup (Holy v Bowe) and a Canadian (Brit) matchup Ruddock v Lewis, with the winners to meet in a 'final' of sorts. The predicted result was for a Holy v ruddock 'final".

I think Ruddock was supposed to be Holy's mando at the time, so the deal between the 4 was set up to allow Bowe to fight Holy, and supposedly everybody to make shitloads more money.

Of course, the 2 underdogs won, and then Bowe pulled out of the contracted second fight to completely **** it all up.

He is if you use your eyes, and actually watch the fights.

Tua was done by the time he fought Lewis. A fact I blame entirely on Tua's own innocence/naivety/lack of brains, and Kevin Barry and Pugh's disgraceful conduct.

The Tua around the Ike time and similar fights, was leagues ahead of Peter and Brewster IMO. Put either of those in against Ike that night, and they're leaving on a stretcher. Have a look at Peter's KO record against everybody but scrubs. I think there might be 1 KO at best against a top 25 level fighter.

but.but.but Peter won a belt, as did Brewster so they must be better.

Yeah, sure. OK. Brewster won the (at the time lightly regarded) WBO.

HOw did Peter get the belt again?

Beating a 39 year old Maskaev? Who won it from Rahman. Two of Tua's victims when they were half decent.

So, he won it from a 39 year old, who lost to Tua when he was 28 years old?

Yeah, of course Sam's better. He's a taller, fatter, slower version of Tua.

A bit more skilled? Possibly. A better overall fighter? Absolutely not.

It's a bit of a hard question really.

Put Prime Wlad in, and he wins nearly all of those fights. but then put a Prime Lewis against his own resume, and you wouldn't pick him to lose any either.

I think while Lewis had less fights, his overall fighters were harder, and he got to the top quicker in terms of number of fights. Whereas Wlad had a lot of early fights against scrubs.

Both guys got noticeably better after hooking up with Steward. I think Lewis has more options than Wlad though. I've yet to see Wlad fight out of his comfort zone.

It's easy for guys on here to say "Wlad would have killed Mercer at any age, don't make me laugh".

but would he? In a tiny, tiny ring, where "move, jab, grab" won't work. Where Mercer has got his head in his chest for 10 rounds?

I don't know. One thing I do think is the Lewis could fight when he had to, and I don't think Wlad can. I'm not sure if that's because Lewis had more fights when he was tested, and had to learn or not.

I've only seen Wlad pushed once in a fight he won - against Peter when he was KD 3 times. I think that was one of his better wins considering all the things going on around the time, and think he'd been pushed more often and come out on top he'd get a bit more respect.

But jabbing the **** out guys that are fat/tubby, 7 inches shorter and honestly are B level at best won't get him that. It's not his fault, the lack of ability around him, but it doesn't help when judging him.
