How do you cuban-fans see Lara ? Is he the best in the 154 pound division already ?
In my opinion he should beat most of the top10 ranked fighters pretty easy.

yep i dont know wat the story is with these lads if there not stepping up the level of compition they should atleast be out fighting every couple of weeks to get more expierence/rounds under thier belt and build a solid fanbase they need exposure i think thier management is doing a very bad job.

the best thing for young talented fighters is getting in the ring often and with good opposition. id like to see the boys get out on the casey/rigo bill its a perfect stage for them to show wat they got

Cuba has many good boxers but it seems like some of them lose focus when they come to America.

Juanma fight Salido next. Gamboa meet Solis.
Some day we see Juanma and Gamboa. I find it difficult to see the winner, what do you think ? I know there is other names like (John,Garcia,Hasegawa but they have to prove themselves more)

Back in Cuba they have nothing, didn't you here the story about Casamayor winning the Olympic Gold Medal and receiving a bicycle as a prize from his government? While Russia and other countries gave $100 000 to their Gold medalist, that is how bad the country is, what you take for granted here is an impossible thing to buy there, that is why when they c the supermarkets full of food, the department stores full of clothes, jewelry, shoes, malls, car dealers and the freedom they just give up on their trade and find a woman a job and settle down, after all most of them don't have family here that could support them, almost every professional athlete that comes to USA, can bring his family to train or can go back home after his business is finished, not the Cuban athlete and don't forget that they do not know the language, and the cultural shock is tremendous, actually the odds for them to succeed in this environment after living all their life in Cuba, are very slim, but as more of them defect the knowledge of the system and past experiences will give them a better chance.

Man, I didn't realize that even amoungs the other communist countries, Cuba is still on the lower end of the totem pole. That's an eye opener, thanks for the insight Garfios.

Yan is a nice guy. I wish him all the best. He's old and spent too long in the am game though. But what an amateur he was..

"Well Cuban boxing has never looked so good in the pros"

Pro boxing is illegal in Cuba, so the only Cuban pros are ex-pats.
