There's a lot of if's and buts there. Is that fight definitely happening? Also, who's to say he'll be given the chance by the WBC? This isn't something that is guaranteed to happen at all. McCloskey's playing a risky game if he thinks that this opportunity is waiting in the wings for him.

Playing an even riskier game by taking a fight the Khan in his back garden when he is already a massive underdog for feck all mulla!

If McCloskey was a few years younger I'd agree with you.

I hope McCloskey's pulls off his plan, if he gets his WBC shot it will prob be an easier fight than Khan and as Khan has said he wants to unify the division he would be pretty much obliged to face a victorious McCloskey, obviously the payday here would be massive. Risky plan all the same but I'm sure he didn't make the decision lightly.

I've defended him constantly over the pay issue, on some occassions just to up the ante with some of the posters on the brit forum but you do have to wonder why he'd walk away from a world title fight.. the offer better have been derisory!

Doe that mean John Murray is vacating then?

Rees isn't a bad match, if Andy can't beat him then he wont get very far. It will be tough though because Andy will have to win by points, and Rees annoying Calzaghe-like style makes it hard to win rounds.

someone at matchroom. everyone high with the EBU rankings has been sounded out. If Murray doesn't make silly demands he will get the fight.

McCloskeys team seem to have an over inflated opinion of themselves. the fight was always going to be a sell out no matter who he faced and he wont sell that many more PPV's in Ireland or NI. he should have accepted whatever was offered.
