    example...

THE GOLDEN BOY OSCAR DE LA HOYA

really rough upbringing in one of the craziest cities in the u.s.a...
    great amateur career...
mom dies and promises her gold, keeps his word and brings his mom/country gold...
starts off usually quick ko'ing everybody, steps up his game and becomes champ, fights everyone in his era, and accomplishes soooo much as a fighter...
opens up gyms and boys and girls clubs to keep kids off the streets...
invests his money the right way...(many fans swear up and down that they wish all fighters did this, yet the few that do get hated on with the quickness)
is now a promoter and fans are quick to forget what he's done as a fighter, and are quick to criticize every single one of his moves...all while avoiding the real big picture that oscar is a prime example of NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO IN BOXING, LIFE, OR IN ANYTHING...THERE WILL ALWAYS BE MUTHA****EN HATERZ !!!

the love he use to get was amazing..
now the hate he gets is ****en incredible..

it's funny though how quick fans turn their back on fighters....

i was thinking about devon and his rough childhood, his bro who had a promising career is now in prison etc etc.....then i realized, DAMN, IT'S ALMOST THE SAME EXACT STORY WITH ALL OF BOXINGS SUPERSTARS

    crazy ****..

we WANT them to fail it seems. ****, after the kotelnik fight everyone jumped ship, rather than acknowledge he took a damn tough fight against a well schooled opponent and keep going no matter how much he got countered. now he's "overrated", "a joke"...**** that. he's a great fighter, determined ******* and nice guy

btw: i talked to him a little while back on facebook, REAL classy dude, said hi to the wife and was happy to talk boxing for like half an hour

Agree with this totally and with Freddy's opening statement. These are the guys we are meant to enjoy watching and it seems many people are almost as going as far as to call them ****s at times.

true and i didn't like him until the vargas fight. then i went back and watched his career, read about him more and gained massive respect. if being "mexican" is being touch as ****, watch the quartey fight and tell me he doesn't qualify

I was never a huge ODLH "fan", but as I've matured, I've grown to genuinely respect his career both as a fighter and as a businessman. I know it's "popular" to **** on Golden Boy or ODLH at every opportunity, so yeah your point stands Always gonna be haters.

seems like boxing is the only sport where the fans **** on the fighters, instead of defending them the way other fans defend their basketball, football or soccer team........

Good post, as we say down here "Real Talk". To hear "fans" tell it, everybody ****ing sucks lol, I mean the bottom line is these cats invest their entire lives into doing this ****, they have the BALLS to walk that isle and put it all on the line. Most people are so terrified of failure they would NEVER walk down that Isle knowing within the next hour my entire lifes work is either going to pay off and I'm going to "make it" or "I'm going to fail", that's a heavy load to carry and why all fighters deserve respect.

I became a huge De la hoya fan when he first started pro. I knew he would be a great fighter in which he turn out was a great fighter. Alot of people have bash Oscar saying he never won the big fights. Well the Whitaker fight was a big fight in which Oscar won no matter if some thinks he won or not. Oscar beat Quartey in a big fight. <<Some thought he won but some thought he lost but still he won regardless and that fight was a great one. Oscar tko Vargas in a fight everybody dying to see. Hey look if many say Oscar didn't really beat Quartey or Whitaker then hell many didn't think Trinidad or Mosley in the rematch beat Oscar. The only 2 people in Oscar era that Oscar really haven't fought is Forrest and Wright. But many here don't know is Oscar offer Wright to fight him but Wright turn down 6 million dollars (Would have been Wright biggest Payday in his career) cause he feels he should get 10 millions or more in which clearly shows he way over price himself. In that time Shaw was Wright promoter and told Arum that 6 million dollars was a slap in the face. People can say all they want but it's the truth.
