Dana White: Georges St-Pierre vs. Anderson Silva Could Happen in 2011

Id love to see GSP's game plan for this fight. Honestly cant see him standing at all with Silva. If he does he'll probably throw a few shots and go for the takedown while Silva tries to counter

Hendo held him down, controlled him, GnP'd him with clean head shots, and won the round in very dominant fashion.

I'd love to see GSP score multiple kd's, use his smaller size and speed to keep disance from Anderson when stood, throw punches that deliberately fall short to shoot for the td and control him when he gets there, maybe attempting a few subs to spice it up and generally outworl him by getting in side control and roughing him up.

I cannot envision GSP stopping or subbing Silva. This is a fight, and IMO Anderson I'd the bigger, better guy.

But GSP can make up for being outsized by implementing a safe, smart gameplan. But what I can see is GSP getting caught by a knee as he shoots, the force I which he will never have felt, or a two-punch combo which does him in following a quick GNP with those long arms, crushing everyones dreams and seeing GSP badly hurt and possibly finished mentally. This wouldn't be like Serra, if Anderson damages him, he really damages him, he's so much the bigger guy.

Stupid as it sounds but styles aside I'm picking Anderson to beat GSP in a fight. He's equally skilled and more dangerous to GSP than vice versa. Sonnen is a big, strong middleweight, GSP, skilled as he is, is a guy that is a big Welter. Fitch would appear to have a better frame to move up.

Don't get me wrong, I wanna' see this fight big time, I just can't see GSP winning eventhough stylistic lean towards him. Make any sense? For once I'm not going with my head (never go with my heart when analysing/betting) but with my gut.

 

Let GSP fight Bisping while Silva takes care of Okami. That way GSP gets some much needed Middleweight experience and Anderson completely cleans up.

 

Agreed, Bisping would be a perfect opponent IMO.

 

GSP will do exactly what Sonnen did for the best part of 5 rounds except he won't get caught in a triangle.

I personally have my doubts. You do realize Silva was hurt going into the fight don't you? And my big concern about GSP is whether or not he can take Silva punch, the same punch that rocked Forrest Griffin while throwing in backing up. Silva's punching power is seriously underrated.

Agreed. Was a while ago, and Rua looked pretty poor against an emaciated Coleman too.

Another surgery now? I mean, I love Shogun, but I'm not certain it will be a walk in the park against Rashad. If he hasn't disintegrated any further he will win fairly easily IMO, but bar Machida he hasn't looked awesome during his UFC tenure IMO.

 

I would dearly love to see a rematch of that fight.

Re-watch Rashad vs Rampage, and see how innocuous, clipping and feeble the punch was that caused Rashad to lose control of his legs. Without wanting to sound like a General Forum moron, he does seem to have a thoroughly "glass jaw". No matter how good his tactics are for Shogun, no matter how the surgery affects Shogun, as soon as fist hits chin it is ****ing over. :deal

 

Rashad may go back to lay and pray tactics. Shogun has a solid ground game, but hasn't actually submitted anyone in a while. Of course I favour Shogun to win, I think he might take a round or so to get going after another lengthy lay-off.
