now youre taking it out of context, why would a reporter ask if chavez would fight wlad? terrible argument.

So what you are saying is a team makes it to the super bowl, and are playing a far superior team (Giants/Pats) and someone asked tom coughlin "do you think you can beat this 18-0 team?" he should have said "no, eli is not as good as brady" or he should have said "yes, i think my team can beat them"

This isn't a superbowl. It's not like Chavez and Martinez fought elimination bouts against top competition, and earned the right to fight for a grand prize.

Chavez is a can. Martinez is a legitimate champion. They should not be in the ring for any reason. Chavez has done nothing to earn a fight against Martinez.

Martinez destroys him in every way, and Roach should say something humble like "Well we've got a lot of work to do, but in a few years, it could happen."

Instead he shakes his way through more horse**** and lies.

I don't see it at all. How can you say that Martinez is not a good boxer. :patsch He's light years ahead of Chavez Jr. speedwise and can fight from the inside and out, has a very good jab, can counter with the best of them, throws blazing combos, has a good chin, and has proven all of this against very good competition.

What has Chavez Jr. done to show that he could compete with someone like Martinez? Jr. is not fast and still has some flaws in his game, like getting off balance frequently. Martinez would make him pay dearly for those.

Chavez is undefeated, doesn't that mean he automatically wins against Martinez? Or does that only work with Floyd?

This statement from roach was most likely to increase the chances of this fight happening soon, as fighters love to call out the best.

But knowing Roach, I wouldn't be surprised if he's found something on his tapes that allows Chavez Jr to beat Martinez/

Roach has been talking too much trash as of late he is becoming a grumpy old man instead of the wise lovable guy he used to be. Roach admitting he hand picks boxers that he knows his fighter can beat is one thing but Martinez would KO that down symdrome looking ese!!!

You're right, I've never been on a team, I've only been an amateur boxer. And since this is a boxing forum and a thread about a boxing hypothetical, I clearly don't belong.

Have you ever been in the ring with someone who is clearly superior to you? Have you ever been pushed too fast by a coach? I have. It wasn't sparring, just an exercise in ass-kicking, with me on the business end. It's not fun.

Giving Chavez the confidence to put him in the ring with Martinez is a death sentence. Compare that to a sensible and honest Nacho Beristain, who discouraged Marquez's terrible fight vs Mayweather, and cared for his fighter's safety enough to keep him away from insurmountable challenges, even if it hurt his grown-man feelings.

Keep your stupid comments to yourself.
