    There's no question in my mind that refs like Smoger, Steele and even Merchante would have given Abell a count. You've got to give a fighter a chance to go on, especially the first time in the first round.

    Estrada slams Schmidt with combos from either side, hitting him high and low with hard hooking shots. Schmidt goes down from the brunt of the force, pitching forward on his palms and knees and climbs his way up. Estrada chases him and wails on him a bit more as Schmidt tries to get a low center of gravity and put a guard up, flicking out a few counter left hooks but getting rocked all across the ring. Schmidt down again from more accumulation (and honestly as much from forearms pushing down on the back of his neck as from clean punches). Again Schmidt gets up, squinting now. Big right hand and Schmidt hops on one leg and goes down HARD.

    He was hardly out on his feet, slug. Yeah, he would have definitely gone down if there weren't obstacles in his way (Arreola on one side, the ropes in the other) but he was putting his head down and trying to grab Arreola right up until the ref stepped in and waved it off.

    He took one nasty right hand. The little flurry that Arreola peppered him with afterward barely turned his head.
