i have'nt seen these fights for a while really, but when a young fighter beats as lopez was then a respected champion with a mix of great skill and a show of grit when needed it is always impressive . for me he never looked concerned at anytime

Almost as good as Chacons domination.

Actually it is probably slightly better and one of the best displays of clean punching you will ever see.

You referring to both Sanchez-Lopez fights there, or one in particular?

The rematch is at least as good. Danny Lopez knew what a cyborg he had in front of him and was highly motivated and focused for the rematch. In addition, the ring was a tiny 16 feet. But Sanchez boxed and counterpunched brilliantly and dismantled Little Red again.

The surprise factor weighed heavily into this one, I think. Had more people known who Sanchez was and what he was bringing to the table, it might not have had the impact it did. Stylistically, he was so very wrong for Lopez, constantly changing angles, always moving, fists flying at the same time, plus the sturdiness to take whatever stray shots the champ happened to hit him with......a nightmare matchup for Danny. But even Mexican papers gave him little to no chance. One actually wrote, "the fight will go as long as it takes for Danny to find his big jaw, which should take, at the most, four rounds."

Very highly especially due to how young he was(19 for the first and no older than 20 for the rematch). He fired off combos brilliantly in both fights and used more lateral movement in the rematch. He picked off many shots and countered at the right opportunites making Lopez pay. Sanchez wasn't just a ball of energy he was a technician who knew when to throw and was very good at adapting to win. Solid defense and a great counterpuncher.

With Lopez you knew what you were going to get. Hard puncher, a very tough guy, little in the way of defense. He made for a solid title holder, but Sanchez proved to be in a different class and passed a tough test for a young pro by standing up to Lopez's power and taking him apart in the process.

They are important wins on his record especially the first bout, as it was the first time Sanchez got to prove himself a legitimate top fighter. The rematch was only really fought because the former champion had a right to it.

Lopez of course had his short-comings and was never on a level of a Salvador Sanchez but coming into the fight there were questions about Sanchez yet to be answered, and beating a tough, hard-punching fighter like Lopez answered them.
