Any chance of Bute/Dirrell happening? I'd like to see that one too..........although I am not so sure that Dirrell would want to go to Montreal.

whats with these fighters not leaving their hometown? Ward wont leave oakland, and Bute wont leave Montreal. I skimed through Butes resume online and realised that he has only had 1 fight outside Montreal and that fight was still in Canada. 14 of his last 15 fights have been in montreal!!

Don't assume things. Bute fights in Montreal because there are many fans who are willing to pay for a ticket to see him and helps him to get a better paycheck for his work. Golden Boy Promotion(Andrade) choose for Bute Andrade 2 to be hold in Montreal. Bute was willing to travel in Nottingham England to face Froch before the supersix started to rectruit their fighter and the deal felt of. Bute was willing to fight Taylor and Pavlik in America before the Froch v Taylor fight had happen. You can see this statement at the after match press conference of Bute-Zuniga. listen to the end:

Lucian Bute: I'll fight the super six winner in 2012
IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute is set to defend his title against Brian Magee on March 19 at the Bell Centre in Monteal. The unbeaten champion has set a goal to face the winner of the ongoing Super Six tournament at New York's Madison Square Garden in early 2012. There have been discussions about such a plan between Bute's team and American cable network Showtime.

"MSG is very special. I am confident of staging a battle there, possibly even in 2012 when I face the winner of the Super Six tournament. I hope that Quebecers will travel in large numbers to support me," Bute said

Saying you will fight outside your hometown and doing it are two very different things. The fact remains that he has not fought on foreign soil in years. He has not had a big fight with 10k+ fans screaming at him to lose like many other fighters at his level. Set the money aside, he hasnt proven himself to be mentally strong to fight against an elite fighter AND THEIR crowd. I am not saying he cant, i am saying he hasnt

Pls go hate somewhere else buddy these are hard undeniable facts:

Now his promoter Mick Hennessy is negotiating a deal to attract Canadian-based Romanian IBF king Bute, 29, to Nottingham, saying: “It’s almost a done deal and it looks like being at the *Nottingham Arena in one of the first two weeks of September.

“Bute’s camp is showing plenty of interest and they look as though they will agree to the fight over here with a big home crowd for Carl.

When your opponent's promoter decides to fight in your backyard, what can you do?

To fight in Montreal brings maybe 1,5 millions $ more. Dawson and Hopkins also decided to fight in Montreal because the money is better for them.

So, what should Bute do? With your MBA, tell us what is your smart plan.

Im sure Kessler would want to fight both Ward, Froch and Bute if his eyes are perfectly healed. He always wanted the best.

I hope he doesn't fight either of the three if he is not 100%...

    Definetely.

Has Bute made any public comments on him wanting Kessler? I mean Bute has been quite reluctant about facing Kessler in the past and frankly Kessler's eyes(!) are more set on the supersix winner than Bute, so a Bute match-up needs some selling.

do you know who ricky hatton is?

i hear he made a name for himself in the states fighting the two biggest fighters in the world....

it's not 'fate' - and it never is - when a promoter who wants to milk his prize asset instead of working him towards big fights.

we see this all the time.

You are confirming what I say, because in case you haven't noticed, the money was there for him when he came to USA...

Hatton came to USA mostly near the end of his career, when his name was big enough to sell. Bute is only coming to this point. When he faces Ward or Kessler, the money will be big enough to travel.

That's why he said he would love to fight at Madison Square Garden.

Both Bute and Larouche thought he was going to fight Kessler in March. I think it was a way for Showtime to make him sign. We know that Kessler is not ready in March but both Bute and Kessler repeated in a recent interview that Kessler was their plan for later this year. So, yes, he said he wants Kessler.

Bute team wanted Kessler in 2009 (Palle and Interbox had some discussions about a spring bout) but Kessler and Palle got mad at eachother and Mikkel had to take another break of boxing.

Bute being reluctant to face Kessler is a myth.

Well, you know, the good guy never gets attention.

Or course, Dirrell would be very very fun and interesting. i think he would be a stylistical challenge for Bute. Will Dirrell's team want a tune up fight too? I suppose so. Let's say Johnson-Dirrell-Kessler-Ward. I would be so happy with that happening in the next year and a half. Don't wake me up while I'm dreaming.
