I'm talking to the posters here that don't believe the Klit bros are worthy of respect and/or admiration, either from yourselves, or their peers. What would either of them have to do to earn respect individually and collectively? A) KO most of their opponents? B) Fight all mandatories? C) Offer voluntary defenses to undefeated prospects and high ranked contenders? D) Fight each other? Now, instead of just responding with a quick "Haye is the best...they both ducked Haye...they're boring...you're just a Haye hater and Klit lover..." maybe offer some concrete solutions to this problem. Short of fighting each other and unifying ALL the titles, they have done at least as much as any other heavyweight champion in the past. Nobody has knocked everyone out, and they both fight everyone and beat everyone put in front of them. I am seriously interested in knowing what the posters who diss the Klits would like them to do to gain respect.
Well for starters, to be admired by American boxing fans they have to; 1) Not be white 2) Preferably be born in the USA
I think the diehard haters will rub their hands with glee and say "Nothing. There is nothing they can do, because the division is so bad. The Klitchkos can never win my respect." It's predictable.
he needs to be black and born in america, then he has to show head movement and slick footwork, finally he has to be limp wristed, no need to change his boring style, just avoid knocking out opponents and let them finish by a boring UD. there, he fits the bill for HBO-favorite type fighters, and he would quickly grow a following from a certain group of fans on this board lol
I love it lol. the only posters that have replied thus far are ridiculing the fact that the Klits are hated on. You can dislike them all you want, but wheres the opinions on what they can do to gain respect for their boxing accomplishments? It is almost impossible to hate them based on boxing quality. Much like mayweather. it seems tons of people hate the man, but not many hate the boxer.
Actually mixed it up 15 years ago? They are doing everything they should do today. Problem is that when HW Boxing was much deeper? Where were they?
They were young. Up and coming. Vitali was older and he did mix it up. What more could he do then fightiong Lennox? You can rate them higher or lower but they both deserve respect. Never running from no one, never fighting dirty, exemplary work ethics, good guys outside the ring.
The Klits have my respect and will continue to have it as long as there are no more defences against guys like Shannon Briggs. That was one of the most disgraceful choices of opponent in heavyweight history. An old asthmatic who had been feasting on bums with more losses than wins for years in small hall club shows is a completely and utterly unacceptable challenger for a world title. However, that was only one fight, and my outrage about it doesn't mean I don't respect the Klits, I do, I just hope that never happens again. (David Haye was almost as bad, giving a title shot to Fraudley, the only thing that made that more acceptable was the massive revenue generated, Shannon the Ancient Asthmatic Cannon never even had that to offer).
I hate pulling the race card under any circumstances, its something that should have been left behind a LONG time ago, so it kind of upsets me that I have to say this BUT: If Vlad/Vitali were black and American they (Americans) would be comparing them to Jack Johnson If he were black and American he would be described as the "new breed" of heavyweight, with superior athletic ability. Its so obvious what is going on here, shameful.
