Paging Freddy to this thread, who thinks Chavez Jr would box circles around my boy Lemieux... if Junior struggled with Lyell, how can you expect him to be able to move around Lemieux all night?!?

He probably means after he whoops Zbik and takes his title. I don't see him fighting Martinez next.

I really hope Freddy has never watched more than 30 seconds of Lemieux or not under the influence of a massive amount of crystal meth.

    If not...:huh:-:)patsch:nut:lol::rofl

Yeah, I suspect Freddy is a little too high on Chavez Jr... even the Mexicans tend to boo Junior at his fights. :D

martinez, who is the man at 160, would knock chavez jr. out. total mismatch. roach said chavez jr. would knock out martinez but he is just blowing his own fighter's horn.

As someone who is rooting for Chavez Jr. I thought his showing tonight was a step back from the progress he seemed to have made in his prior fight with Duddy......

Chavez used his jab well and had a good solid workrate vs Duddy......

Tonight his jab was non-existent, it was'nt in his mind to even implement it.

Jr won handily, but he fought in a style and distance in close where Lyell could get his own shots off.

I'm really suprised that Freddy Roach did'nt have Chavez using his jab and reach advantage vs Lyell.

I want to hear what Roach had to say about this performance, because it looks like he did'nt have Jr. practicing in training camp the things he needed to implement vs Lyell.

Lyell is a step down from John Duddy, so Roach is somewhat to blame here for Chavez not looking as good as he did vs Duddy.

i really didnt like how freddy roach insulted cotto by saying chavez jr could beat him, then when the fight was made they pulled out of it saying chavez was not ready, cheap shot.

Are you being funny or have you never seen either of them fight???? ALthough i do agree him almost getting taken out by little Cotto raised soem antennas but the kid has obvious talent, excellent combos, to go with his punch, if his chin turns out to be good he will be on pfp lists in a couple years....

Duddy is very limited and its obvious watching him fight... He can punch a little and has a good record, but i don think you really believe hed bet Canelo. That is if youve seen them fight before.

Lyell is a 154'er and Jr is a 160'er so not that much difference. Lyell is tough and did go 10 with Sylvester and 8 with Kirkland so it's not like he's a tomato can, he's a tough journeyman.

Lyell is not a step down from Duddy. Lyell took Duddy's zero, and Billy Lyell has faced way better competition than Duddy. You guys who are surprised that Chavez struggled are seriously under rating Billy Lyell. He's a solid journeyman on the same level with Grady Brewer, but Lyell is physically tougher than Brewer.

maybe he didn't want to show his skills off before moves up a level. Cause i know he can punch a lot faster and harder then that. He was throwing slow balls all night.

Turning out "ok" is, well, not ok for a champ. And he wants Zbik in May.

    The guy will duck e-v-e-r-y-o-n-e.
