the recent thread about who is the greatest trainer got me thinking arcel and this match-up also made me think arcel . after being out of the sport for a while arcel was asked by peppermint frazier's manager carlos Eleta to go to panama to help out in the fighters tittle bout against locche . arcel snuk into the gym to watch locche train and concluded that locche reminded him of the johhny dundee ,locche would feint you and keep backing up until he got near the ropes then twist his opponent onto the ropes and score well.his advice to frazier was to not follow locche to the ropes but stand look at him and wave .i cant see chavez fighting that way but i can still see chavez winning a decision with pressure and bodywork but i think it will be close

Locche would frustrate the **** out of Chavez. He was a genius.

Chavez takes a UD. He's one of the better men to go up against Locche I think. Freaky accurate, consistent as hell, intelligent pressure, great determination, etc.

Gotta agree. I think Chavez would be frustrated at times, but would do enough to earn the UD over a less active Locche who would be unable to consistently keep Julio off him.

The way that JCC consistently works the body even when faced with head movement, would make me edge towards him. Locche tended to draw guys in to hitting him in the head, or attempting to. Carlos Hernandez had success to the body but started head hunting, I don't think JCC would fall into the same trap here.

Hard to make a pick, on 1 hand Loche supposedly lost to Ortiz so we know a skilled pressure fighter can beat him, on the other hand Chavez could be outboxed as we saw against for WHitaker, Taylor and Mayweather for periods.
