They did a rendition of "South Pacific" in between rounds. '...we've got mango's and bananas, and lots of dandy games...'
Carroll pressured Williams from the outset. Both guys took shots. Sonny's jab busted up Lewis' face. Both guys punched on after the bell in the 4th I think. It was a good little fight. Tony Mundine's Cruiserweight looked quite promising on the undercard as well. Scored to good KO.
I just watched the last 3 rounds, wasn't bad at all. SBW runs a bit, but Lewis was coming at him pretty hard. It was actually far from a snoozfest, and quite a way better than some of the **** Hoppa was doing. The big fella seems to have good stamina and has an awesome physique, he comes into the ring in tip top shape. With a bit of spit and polish he could do alright on the domestic scene IMO. I could be a fan.
David Aloua. Former NZ amateur cruiser-weight champion and commonwealth games representative. Now training under Mundines camp. He looked good. High work rate. Was a good match up for his debut against hard hitting Jae Bryce. Both Kiwis. Aloua got the KO in Rd 3 I thought SBW/Lewis was a decent matchup. SBW fought a smart fight on the back foot. Used his reach/height/fitness advantage. Sharp jabs with some good right uppercuts thrown in. Would tie up Lewis every time Lewis tried to work on the inside. Light on his feet which you don't see much heavyweights do. Defence is terrible, but expected from a novice.
i just think sonny should adapt his own style. stayed nice and composed though throughout despite the constant pressure from lewis.
decent turnout last night too. after the fight i ask some guys what they thought of leapai and they said "whose that? we only came for sonny bill"
