Different type of cut on Valero. To Devon's credit, he fought strong with a badly cut, right eyelid for about 8 rounds, before the left eye got cut, as well.

It wasn't that far from the eye. While the cut on the right eye was far worse, he was having some trouble regaining his vision, at first. And I guess some sweat got into it, as well. He appeared to panic a bit. So, the doctor made the call, and stopped the fight. Either way, the right man won the fight.

People need to give the young man a break. We've got older and more experienced fighters, jumping out of the damn ring....and getting far less criticism.

 Your passion is commendable. Your analogy is disturbing.

Of the two, I'd say Bradley has the most heart and is the tougher guy. But, Alexander has heart too. He fought valiantly with a badly split eyelid for the majority of the fight. He gets credit for that.

Obviously, I was upset the fight ended that way, like everyone else. It was a big letdown. I didn't pay for it though, or make the trek out to Detroit. So, I got over my disappointment, rather quickly.

    But, the right person won.

Lol...feel you on that. I was hoping for a FOTY candidate, myself. I guess we will see if Devon's career takes a downward spiral like Ortiz's seems to be. I still respect the talent of both fighters though. As far as Bradley, his career takes off from here, IMO.

That's because he's a gladiator. As long as there is no stinging in the eye. That's just too much for any man to deal with.

Actually I think Cotto would have won since he was up on the scorecards

tim and devon didn't throw enough punches.

as for alexander's heart, he came from nothing to world champion. apparantly, out of 20 kids that began with kevin cunningham, 9 died and 10 are in jail...he is the last one left. you need a pretty big heart for that. also, he should have been a olympian - he was robbed when he fought rock allen.

i thought the fight was even. i was dissapointed that both fighters did not try to decisively win rounds. there were many close rounds where judges are looking for any excuse to give it to either guy such as who the aggressor is, which is why bradley got the decision.

as for the ending, i don't think devon was faking it at all. he couldn't open his eye temporarily. if he had been given 5 minutes, he would have been able to fight on.

There's a difference between the the eyelid being paralyzed and the eye being paralyzed. Our eyeball has a few different nerves that move it, and if one is out, then the muscle it innervates doesn't function, and the working ones are able to pull the eyeball unaposed. If the doctor was seeing symptoms of that, he made the right call to stop the fight.

Here's a pic of what one example would look like. You see how one eye (the unaffected eye) is normal, and the other that looks like it's looking up, that's the one with the nerve injury. http://www.pedseye.com/strabismus_hypertropia.htm

I'm not saying this was the case, but it is plausable that something such at this is what prompted the doctor to stop the fight. Alexander's reactions of course didn't help things, and I'm sure he was thinking "I'm getting whipped without this cut...now I'm even worse off than before!" His corner's antics definitely didn't offer a whole lot of composure either. 2 cards already stacked against him (Bradley and his corner)..the cut just exacerbated it all

No that's not what happened. If that happened, Alexander would have reported double vision. A muscle in the eyelid, like the levator, didn't seem to be working right, which is why Alexander wasn't lifting his lid normally. Eyelid muscles control the eyelid, not eye movements.
