What the **** are you talking about? Dana White was laughing and pointing to Shields saying "he's mine". He had clearly agreed the deal with Shields even if he couldn't seal the deal legally. And people in Strikeforce were pissed with Shields for what they saw as a dick move.

Now name me another non-UFC fighter that has been shown in attendance of a UFC event.

Expected fanboy response. SF acknowledge the UFC's heavyweight champ and you think thats the wrong thing to do?:patsch Find another sport to watch.

I love it how when you have no arguments all you can do is throw insults out.

Pretty clear you dont know what the definition of an insult is. If Fanboy constitutes an insult in your eyes then i suggest you buy a dictionary.
Seeing as you're clearly interested in dragging this one out il humour you.
SF has no problem cross promoting and working with other organisations and other fighters who are not part of their stable. Naturally of course this is vital to the life blood of the sport. Pretty clear their philosophy is better than the UFC's otherwise they wouldn't have invested time in the SF GP.
Them showing Cain on TV was clearly the right thing to do. They have no personal beef with Cain who is part of the same camp as Walker. And of course showing the UFC heavyweight champ of the world - who is generally seen by the consensus as "the" man is obviously an honourable thing to do on a rival promotion who takes heat on a constant basis from the UFC.
You on the other hand think that somehow SF messed up because the UFC is the competition. Its fairly obvious you just dont get it. For you though everything HAS to boil down to the brand. On that basis alone as iv already said you're nothing more than UFC schill.

First of all I was not the one to raise this issue, so its not like I'm frothing at the mouth about it. Someone else thought Dana would go spare and I was just pointing out that this is nothing but a good thing for UFC.

And you're right the honourable thing to do is to recognise the World Champion and give him props. But what is honour is irrelevant - there in a promotional battle with the UFC and they should fight smart. Strikeforce consistently do these dumb little things that make them come off as second rate.

And co-promotion is no way the life blood of the sport. This has been proven to be bull**** time after time. Whenever two promoters cooperate one gets ****ed over. Pride ****ed the UFC over. Strikeforce used their partnership with EliteXC to get tight with Showtime. FEG's partnership with Strikeforce has at best undermined Aoki and Sakurai and at worst may end up being Strikeforce's pathway into the Japanese market. And Strikeforce is slowly starting to realise the problems that not having their fighters tied to exclusive deals causes - letting Josh Thompson go and fight on Dynamite derailed their plans for Thompson-Melendez II while Daley's BAMMA fight may prevent them doing Diaz-Daley. And that's before you consider the mess their heavyweight division was in the past few years.

The fact is that you don't get it. MMA as a business is brand vs. brand, with different organisations competing.

Again I responded to someone asking wouldn't Dana be mad at Velasquez being shown on TV. Its you who started talking about co-promotion, ufc bias and the grand prix.

More to the point - Who is Strikeforce co-promoting with for the GP other than M-1? And surely the way M-1 screws people around and handpicks Fedor's opponent's is exactly what should be avoided.

And Pride screwed UFC over by never following through on the understanding to send big name fighters over to the UFC.

I was really ****in suprise to see him there, since he is the UFC champ I though DW wouldn't allow him to aknowledge other organisation and I was happily proven wrong...and more suprise to see him showed by SF when you think that the UFC doesn't even show clip from other organisation when they present there fighter(Jake Shield intro anyone...was IMO pathetic)

And almost as usual you sound like a ****in ******. You are really the antithesis of monarocountry that is not even funny.

It's not even about co promotion, it's about doing the right thing for the sport. Now we are gonna hear DW for the next few month spit his hate on the SF GP just because he doesn't do it. He will say Fedor suck, Overeem suck, Barnett is a junky, etc. only because SF is another brand of MMA and it must means there are all tomato cans and only the best fight in the UFC. Especially with the HW division the UFC has right now.

**** it man, at least the real athlete of the sport arn't ****in ****** business man like DW and they care about the futur of the sport.

Ah yes...so you were ****ing wrong and yet I'm the ******. Despite the fact that this is NOT the first time that Strikeforce has promiently displayed a leading UFC fighter. Indeed I'm pretty sure they've shown Velasquez before. And the Strikeforce fighters attend UFC events all the time (indeed some have appeared on TUF as coaches), the difference is the UFC spends time promoting their own fighters not the opposition's.

No idea what on earth you're talking about with regards to the UFC using match footage from other organisations. The UFC didn't use Strikeforce and EliteXC Shields BECAUSE THEY DON'T HAVE THE RIGHTS. They use Pride and Affliction clips all the time. And they did mention the victory of Dan Henderson repeatedly - why? Because it helped them hype their newest signing.

White criticises Strikeforce because its a rival product that is competing with him. He's a promoter therefore what he says in public is to help promote his business. I don't understand why some people on this board have such difficultly understanding this. Getting upset with White is just as absurd as blindly believing whatever he says. And the UFC had done far more to grow the sport of MMA than any existing promotion - you don't have to be a shitty businessman to care about the sport.

Man there is a difference between trash talking everything that is not in your organisation and not promoting it. I think a balance can be achieved, thing DW obviously don't seem to agree with me, you either IMO.

Never said you are a ******, but if you take it that way, I don't have any problem with that. The only I said is that at least SF can do the right thing when the UFC obsiously can't do since they seemed so theaten by any other organisation....

And there is a huge difference between promoting someone and then just show teamate attending an event to support there friends. This is where is get ridiculous, even though they don't fight under the same banner, they all know each other, they all spare with each other. And it's not like if 5 second will change anything anyway. But I guess just mentionning someone for you equal promotion, and to be really honest you are probably right, but in the long term I don't see any possible damage done to the UFC for doing that. It's not like if someone was in some kind of dillema wondering, wich event do I buy tonight...SF or UFC ?

But I guess it come down to how we think as an individual.

Im not interested in your anecdotal debates on semantics. As for PRIDE screwing over the UFC **** me what a reach. Last i looked UFC bought PRIDE and OWN the brand and their entire stable of fighters. Yeah UFC got really screwed over...

Well actually they did. They paid $70million with the intention of keeping the thing going only for DSE to announce the end of Pride with their last show and work with Japanese media to keep the new Pride off Japanese television. But in any case that has nothing to do with what I was talking about - which was the UFC's attempt to establish co-promotion with Pride by sending Liddell over.

And as usual a debate you can't win is semantics. I ask you again - who is Strikeforce co-promoting the Grand Prix with other than M-1? And all M-1 is providing is one fighter who has a multi-fight contract with Strikeforce.

So when you said I sounded like a ****** you didn't mean I was ******. Okay gotcha :nut

I never said that Strkeforce or the UFC should stop fighters attending shows. Just that if I'm Strikeforce I don't show Velasquez on the television because that's time they could use the time to highlight one of their own and it just detracts from their own product. The UFC has plenty of fighters from other organisations work the corner or attend their fights but they draw attention to it like Strikeforce. I don't think its a big deal but its just a little thing I wouldn't do if I was them.

And I disagree with the idea that there's no dilemma about whether somebody watches UFC or Strikeforce. That's precisely the dilemma that would be posed if Strikeforce were successful. Indeed even at its current level that's increasingly becoming the case given the rising number of head to head clashes.

I said you sounded like one, didn't imply you were one, just talked like one. I said on the other that you were the antithesis of monarocountry. So no, I didn't say you were a ******. You actually, from time to time say stuff that make alot of sens.

Never said you said that. You think showing fighter from other org is bad, I say it's not. I see MMA as a global sport, it's nice to see at least 1 org that doesn't care and try to promote the sport as a whole and not just as 1 organisation having everything, and if you arn't in that org you just ****in suck.

What head to head clashes ? The only one recent I can remember was honestly a no brainer. If I had money to put on a event between UFC and SF, it was SF: St-Louis against TUF 12 finale ans honestly, SF:St-Louis won that night. Other then that I can't even remember the last time SF tried to make a show the same night as UFC...

Except that night, when was the last time SF aired a show same night as UFC ?

Strikeforce has run head-to-head with WEC a number of times as well. I said that the number of head to head clashes is going to rise...which it will given the increasing numbr of dates Showtime is giving Strikeforce.

And I just think the logic of all sports is monopolistic. Only boxing has a divided structure and at its peak it also had a unified one. We can either have the UFC use its dominant market position to grow the sport and attract new fans or we can several smaller promoters trying to maximise income from an existing fanbase.
