    EG:

    MYTH:
The term "pound-for-pound" was made for Sugar Ray Robinson.

    FACT:
Tony Canzoneri and Bob Fitzsimmons were both called the pound-for-pound best by boxing writings in their time.

'JEffries had to lose 100lbs to face Johnson' - picture evidence suggests otherwise

Myth-That Dempsey was not willing to fight Harry Wills ever.
Fact- Dempsey and Harry Wills signed for a bout to fight for promoter Floyd Fitzimmons
of New Jersey, which photographs exist, showing this event. Fitzimmons couldn't come up with the money, and Wills pocketed the deposit...

I don't think the myth that Dempsey flat out didn't want to fight Wills exists. Just the flat out fact that he did not.

I think it's very plausible he had to lose around that weight.

Jeffries is running in preparation on the right:

Myth: That Paul Berlenbach won Olympic gold as a wrestler.

Fact: Berlenbach never participated in any Olympic Games.

Here's another pic of Jeffires (with Johnny Coulon) - this one was taken a couple of years after the Johnson bout by the looks of it but you can see Jeffries was as big as a barn door - I'd say he would definately be in the region of 300 lbs - he looked ripped for Johnson and what was he for that 228? I know for instance the Rock in retirement went up to like 250 which is getting on for 70lbs on top of his fighting weight so I don't find it hard to beleive Jeffries ballooned to a similar extent - he was a big big bear of a man
