Against Vernon Paris last night. I talked to someone who was there and he had it a close but clear victory for Augustus. It was an entertaining fight by all accounts. Sad to see that even in the end a one of a kind fighter like Augustus never could overcome the politics of boxing. This fight kind of summed up his career. If it really was his last fight like he said, best of luck to him. I have really enjoyed following his career. He will definately be one of the most memorable fighters even without ever winning a major title.
Thats what I figured. the worst point deduction ive seen was Augustus-Burton 1 when Augustus spun himself out of a clinch. That ref and the judges were disgrace that night. Augustus never could get a break. im just happy ESPN gave him his props as the fighter of the decade
i like this Paris kids style but this Coleman KO would scare the **** outta me if i was Paris. 1:52 [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yesm5xBFTJw&feature=related[/ame]
very intresting to see who vernon is going to fight next. if tim coleman fight gets rescheduled that would b great.
Paris is a good fighter but he struggles almost every time out against C+ and above fighters. He also has stamina issues.
I was at the silverdome and Augustus was surely robbed. The referee was also one of the worst I have ever witnessed. Paris held the ENTIRE fight and when Augustus tried to continually push him off, the ref warned (and deducted points) him and NOT Paris. From the 4th round on, Paris has very little in the tank. He was breathing heavily after any combination and was getting pushed around by a fighter on the brink of retirement. The fight was close on points, yet Augustus undoubtedly outworked Paris and deserved the victory.
