Brendon Smith, the manager of lightweight contender Michael Katsidis (27-3, 22KOs), wonders if WBA junior welterweight champion Amir Khan (24-1, 17KOs) is serious about a fight. Khan told Sky Sports over the weekend that he planned to contact the Katsidis camp to discuss a potential fight in England on April 16. Both Smith and Katsidis are very interested in the fight. But Smith would not be surprised if Khan is just name-dropping Katsidis in order to close a deal with one of the other boxers in the running, like John Murray or Lamont Peterson.:deal

I doubt he'd fight another banger right after Maidana

    It's a dangerous fight for a warm-up.

But I hope it happens. I'd definitely go to see this.

WOULD LOVE TO SEE THIS!! Khan would win IMHO just due to a styles clash but i really cant see him taking this especially after the shots Maidana landed he will be looking at a lighter puncher.

He will fight a big lightweight with a low KO percentage and dominate him through size and speed.

I didn't think that Maidana would beat Khan, but I wouldn't bet on Amir against Katsidis. He should win, but it's an horrible match up for him. A swarmer will do Amir more dammage than a slugger. Bank on it.

Good fight. It'd also be good preparation for bradley's relentless approach.

Katsidis KO, just because he is one of the few real warriors left in boxing.

The same Katsidis that was stopped by old JMM? I like the guys style, he is a warrior, but his punches aren't THAT hard. Khan is just to fast, skilled, tall, etc for him. Katsidis did so well against JMM cuz JMM was willing to stand there and trade with the guy. Khan isn't going to stick his chest on Katsidis head, and throw shots.
    Fight is a mismatch...Sorry.

Khan beats up Kats. Hell I like Kats but he just got stopped by old man Marquez. He's a slugger with a lot of heart... But he's really really to hit. Khan will move a lot more. Khan has a huge huge speed and reach advantage... He'll knock Katsidis out. It'd be a fun fight though I guess, if you wanna see a one sided ass ****.

This would be a good fight but I can't see it happening, atleast on the April date. I thought Katsidis couldn't face Guerrero in April becuase of flooding in Australia, I don't know of anything changing there. I want to see Khan-Peterson but if that doesn't happen he should just rematch Prescott. There's a story line there and would help sell the fight. If Khan doesn't secure someone soon he's going to be in danger of not having enough time to get an opponent for April.

khan would beat him and stop him in the middle rounds im sure.
I would like to see khan face peterson as a warm up for bradley, that makes most sense and peterson is a better boxer than katsidis

Depending on what the offer is team Katsidis want to count there lucky stars , there 0 & 3 in significant fights against top level opposition !!!!

Smith cant really beleive at this moment in time that Katsidis goes in there and beats Khan so what is the motivation , they should be re building Katsidis , he was outclassed against Marquez , no shame there , but the excuse was his Brother ................ not taking anything away from that , thats an excuse if ever there was one , but what was the excuse for Diaz boxing his ears off !!! , he doesnt belong in there with Khan , and unless its a payday he cant refuse (all signs would point to that not being the case) i think his team are being irresponsible here !!!!

That said , from the current crop of potential opponents i do prefer the Khan Katsidis fight
