Yes, Monzon was a confirmed smoker, and even commented on it once, years ago in a ring magazine article.. He said that he quit during training though, but resumed smoking in between fights.
Mickey Walker was famous for his two pack a day habit, and devoted some ink to his cigarette indulgence in his autobiography. Nicotino Roacche takes the cake though. Not sure of anybody else who was known to take drags between rounds.
