I'd go for a stoppage win for Charles personally - I don't rate Foster as high as a lot of others - I'd rate Archie Moore over Foster too and Billy Conn and probably a few others
Yeah, Charles would have probably knocked him out with a left hook. I wouldn't be surprised if this ended as quickly as the Frazier fight.
Charles has been in there with the quintessential pressure fighter in Marciano who by the way was a big puncher himself. He's been in there with Moore, Satterfield, Louis, Walcott (who could bang) and showed that he can handle power. I think he schools Foster over 15.
Interesting that Joey Maxim was able to hang in there with Charles, and Ezzard gets all the accolades.
Charles KO inside 6 at LHW. At the weight he has a combination of speed and power that is pretty incredible.. And skills that are on many levels above Foster.
Keep in mind, Charles was arguably the greatest light heavyweight to never win the title. They called him the "Cincinnati Cobra" for a reason he was a killer with great technical abilities to go along with that. I see him schooling Foster and stopping him eventually in the mid-rounds.
As I said. Foster KO Charles. Foster is a beast. Charles could get knocked down by a fly. So a huge Foster hook would prob kill him even before it lands.
Well, it´s tough to call in my opinion !! No doubt who is greater..... But......Foster could pounding him with bombs from safe distance...with his accurate jab, he would be able to do it...... I think he would be able to hurt Charles with that murderous left hook, or cut him with so many snapping fast jabs delivered with a twist.....
Maybe the greatest Light Heavyweight Bout, featuring a great boxer versus a great puncher. Can see Ezzard slipping and sliding, while Bob Foster lands some good bombs from far-range. Looks like Ezzard could be hurt, but probably turns the tide after 7 Rounds after getting trounced in rounds 5-1-1. Ezzard probably scores a knockdown in Round 9 which turns the fight over to his favor. Ezzard comes on strong in rounds 11 thru 13 and stops an exhausted Bob Foster in thr 14th.
He most certainly could not, although he may be able to avoid it before lowering his own boom. Charles didn't have anything like a great chin, just great resources and a very well-rounded game. I think Foster would take Charles's punch better than vice-versa, personally. Say what you will of him as a Heavyweight, at Lt. Heavy his chin was pretty well proven. Anyways, it's an either way kind of fight, although I might favor Charles by Decision in 2/3 with the right gameplan. A more talented boxer, surely. The other one he gets KO'd.
yeah i will concede that it is not a given that he could take foster's punch but i do think charles has a better shot at stopping foster than many may think.
