My home town's best fighter ? Terry McGovern, the greatest featherweight at his absolute prime. A shooting star that burnt out much too early...
Eder Jofre Miguel de Oliveira - light-middleweight champion ServĂlio de Oliveira - Bronze Medalist in 68 (Mexico).....
im from leicester and we had tony sibson who was probably our best boxer even though he won world title i say he was leicester's best boxer i mean he did lose his world title challenge to hagler not some bum. Interesting boxer from leicester is len wickwar he's actually related to my grandad somehow but anyway on box rec he has the most fights and wins in box rec history. http://boxrec.com/media/index.php/Len_Wickwar
George Dixon since I now reside in Halifax, Nova Scotia Although, since I was born in Montreal, I guess I could say Arturo Gatti.
As far as I have figured out; Lancaster, PA has one Richard Vaughn. The AAU Heavyweight division Champion of 1944. Outside of that, I'm not too keyed on on the locality of the fighters. I saw Kermit Cintron at Nye's gym back in the day when he was fresh outta Reading. That's when a had a passing knowledge of boxing. As soon as I get some spare time, I'm heading on down to the Lancaster library to figure this'n out on Mr. Vaughn. He's a slippery fish on the internet.
