I threw this fight in tonight after work and just had to say that I always enjoyed watching this fight regardless of where these two are at in their careers today. A fight with solid action throughout the whole 12 rounds with both fighters landing some clean, hard shots. I agree with decision and thought Paul built up too big of an early lead in the first 6 rounds with Margarito not scoring enough points and not winning enough rounds.

That was a good night of boxing. Too bad the williams-cintron fight didn't end up too well. I wanted to see cintron-williams ever since that double header hbo put on that night.

PW boxed well that night using his combo to keep margarito away. Margarito came out strong later on but he let PW out on a early lead. Good fight tho. Cintron-matthyse was awesome. I love the way cintron KTFO matthyse that night.

Margacheato clearly loaded up for this one too, since when does this guy ever hurt anyone with a single punch so late in a fight?

    Where are they today?

Margarito - not in top 200 P4P or top 25 of any weight class; caught loading

Williams - was #3 P4P four months ago, still top 20 today; beat prime Sergio

PW was never a top 3 p4p fighter. He is a guy who made money off a rep he claimed to have. top 10 maybe he cracked but thats it. We all know Sergio was robbed the first fight and Cintron outboxed him for most of their fight.

Pretty impressive stuff from P-Dub really. I think Margarito was kind of waiting for Williams to wear himself down outdoors in the heat, and then when the onslaught came, Williams still had enough in the tank to survive.

I don't think Williams is done by any stretch, he just ran into a really, really good fighter in Martinez. He's going to have to figure out a better way to fight bigger guys though, getting tagged by middleweights with that leaky defense isn't going to work for him. All the way outside behind that length, or get find a defensive minded trainer to patch all of those holes if he wants to keep being a boxer-puncher.

Paul Williams defeated the best version of Margarito.

Its a shame he couldnt kick on and become great.

One of my fave fighters in boxing =(

A green Williams beat Margo at his own game. One of my favorite fights of the last decade.

    :huh

PW was clearly winning vs Cintron.

It was a toss up in the Sergio fight. I gave it to Sergio but dont argue with a PW call. It was that close.

He got KOed by Sergio, okay? But he was a top 5 P4P. I had him at 3 for quite awhile, honestly though, it was simply because the bottom 8 were all mixing and trading spots constantly.

Plus when BHop went inactive, Floyd retiring briefly etc.

Paul gets more hate than he should. He beat, Margarito, Sergio, Cintron, Winky ( I didn't expect that big of a domination)
