It's interesting because Pacquiao with his style and also for the fact he's a southpaw can be a bad match up for Floyd; on other hand, Mayweather's style, counter-punching, judging by history records, is a pain in the ass for Pacman. Which one will prevale ?? I don't know...This bout is interesting from EVERY point of view

Damn you Floyd for not taking the fight !!:fire

^^^ This. Either that or until Father time robs him of his gifts and he becomes old. He's too smart to stick around boxing for that to happen though. Until someone comes along that possess that possess the SKILL, ATTRIBUTES, AND IQ (some have had one or two, but not one of his opponents he's faced or any potential opponents he could face possess all three that match his level), he has or unless he moves up out of his weight class (which he's too smart to do as well) nobody will beat him.

IMO everyone who fights him only has a punchers chance.

The only thing I can think of that hasn't been done to him would be to intentionally foul him repeatedly and hurt him early in the fight. And then do it again in the middle rounds just before he goes into his offense.

Hearns and Duran and Leonard all beat floyd.

FLoyd is by no means unbeatable.

Although out of todays 147'rs you'd favour him to beat them all/including Pac
But Pac has the best chance of any. After Pac i'd saw Williams has the 2nd best chance/ but again i'd favour floyd

There are a few archetypes who would give him the most trouble.

The first is a well-rounded swarmer or infighter. Castillo probably did enough to pull it off in the first fight with just pressure, and Hatton's footspeed found him some success; these are pretty good fighters themselves, the point being that there have been much better fighters to utilize this style. A pressure fighter who jabs and moves their head while advancing and knowing how to cut off the ring with decent footspeed, a good tight inside game and defense, a varied offense of combinations, and some punching power would help. Duran comes to mind best.

The second type I would figure is an equally tall or taller boxer-puncher with speed and/or power, along with a good jab and ring iq. Mixing it up is a smart way to throw Mayweather off, and if someone can consistently set traps, go to the body, go forward and backwards, and never be completely outdistanced by Mayweather's reaching jab and counter-rights, then they have a good shot of employing their own gameplan and setting the pace of the fight in their favor in order to do damage and land consistently. A prime DLH and Mosley come to mind.

The third is a patient and defensive fighter. A steady patient boxer like Winky Wright or an athletically gifted fighter like Pernell can both fit this bill with their respective styles. Limiting the openings Mayweather has will force him to create a bit of offense which allows for opportunities to counter. It is difficult to match him in a chess match, but he's not altogether unpredictable and a steady advance with a high guard, or a baiting speed-based retreat, creates opportunities for counters and safe pot-shotting. I can imagine someone like JMM having trouble countering with his athleticism, but a fight with both of them in their primes lower down would have been interesting to see.

First of all Manny doesn't have the style to beat Floyd. You *******s act like Manny is going to walk Floyd down. Manny doesn't even have a jab to offset Floyd first. Then you must understand that the only fighters to give Floyd trouble are the ones who had defense. He has to think more and pick them apart. You have been spoiled by these flat footed no defense guys Manny has been facing. As soon as Floyd lands on Manny he will be out of there or he will shove him off or tie him up and bang on the inside with him and we all know that as great as Manny is he has no inside game and he has trouble cutting off the ring. Manny's style can't beat Floyd.

There are so many so-called "Fight Fans":-( that have allowed their hatred and/or disgust of the persona/behavior/antics of Floyd Mayweather Jr. that is has blinded them of really seeing and/or comprehending how good Floyd is. Example: just about every fighter/boxer has a highlight reel on youtube or some other video posting site....but Floyd has videos of the myriad of styles and the variety of ways in how he wins fights. There are videos about FMJ titled: CHECK-HOOK, PULL-COUNTER, JAB, SHOULDER-ROLL, BOXING ABILITY AND DEFENSE. Now, name a fighter (that's fighting today) that has a style that will totally negate and nullify each weapon in the FMJ Arsenal for 12 Rounds?

Does anyone even remember when Cotto tried to slug-it-out with a fast, volume punching southpaw (Pacquiao). And after getting beaten up for the majority of their fight...then in the later rounds, he finally pulled his head out of his ass (and his corner too) and fought in the style he should been fighting in from the opening bell...he began to box and while blooded, beaten and gassed...was still able to win some rounds by outboxing Pacquiao and snapping his head back with his jab. Floyd is not a dumb fighter nor does he have a dumb corner (at least when it comes to boxing). He will not wait to round 10 til' find/seek/adjust to which one of his weapons is most effective.
So what style is perfect for beating Mayweather Jr....NOT PACQUIAO'S!!!!

Either a tough, high-tempo swarmer with a big heart, or a quality boxer-puncher with a great jab & a reach advantage. IMO there's noone around at the moment with the skill-set & physical attributes to come close to beating him. He's just too smart, too skilled & too adaptable for any of his peers. Hate the man, love the boxer.

Dude please.Cotto wanted no part of Floyd and Arum even said Cotto wasn't ready for Floyd. Also Floyd wanted 10 million to fight Cotto and Hatton and Arum said no that he will give him 7 million. Cotto doesn't have the skills to beat Mayweather. He is too flat footed and predictable.
