Never heard a fighter talk so much **** about a fighter like Lewis did after the fight, and then retire after agreeing to give Vitali a remtach and calling out Wlad. Very strange. Didn't hear him once mention during the post fight interview or prior to the bout that this would be his last..Hmm

 

How many fighters has Wlad fought that are anywhere near as good as Lewis?

Plus against Lewis, Wlad would not have the height, weight and reach advantage that he does over the vast majority of fighters he has faced.

Lewis would have the size and skill to utilize his deadly uppercut against Wlad.

i think wlad is a good fighter - but if that version of vitali couldnt beat that version of lewis - then wlad doesnt have a chance

 

It was fat, unmotivated, Old Lennox who had Peak Vitali hugging on desperately for dear life, to avoid being punched into an early grave in rounds 5 & 6.

In response to your uppercut question, how many quality fighters has Wlad fought?

The answer is just one, the featherfisted Chris Byrd who debuted at 169lbs!

Mercer was shot-to-**** so he doesn't count...
Chagaev was an ill fighter, suffering badly from Hepatitus...
Chambers is a very overrated poor-man's Tony Tubbs...
Rahman was shot-to-****...
Botha was shot after Tyson & Lennox brutally ruined him...

 

The same applies to Lewis with Wlads height and skills( attributes ) Can't throw uppercuts when your on the outside, and Wlad is an expert and clinching up his opponents, unlike Vitali who tries very hard to avoid clinches for the most part of his fights.

Byrd was avoided by Lewis, not saying Lewis was scared or anything like that but maybe he didn't like his slick style. I'd of course pick Lewis over Byrd but who knows it might have gone to decision. Byrd beat Tua just a Lewis did. Only lose besides the first two that Wlad gave him was to Ibeabuchi.

Rather then get into Wlads fights heres Lewis's last 5 years

Vitali.- nothing even close to on-sided or convincing
Tyson.- I'll take your words for Wlads opponents not even close to prime or in it to win, just the money.
Rahamn- twice .. LOL with 1 lose very nice. Wlad only chose Rahman because Povetkin pulled out late with "ankle injury" So he neede late replacement
Tua Dec.- who Bryd also beat and Wlad beat Bryd
Botha.- Who Wlad beat 2 years later, must be enough time to make him ****
Grant- joke
Holyfield- great fights, but we can't expect Wlad to time travel and fight him or fight him now, be a joke

Wlad has done what he has to, beat the young up and comers and tried to unify the titles.
As for Mercer Lewis won a MD dec over him that could have gone either way-+1 point. Wlad also first person to knock him down because of head shot. Chin is something that shouldn't disappear over time, Ask Foreman, and Vitali

As for common opponents; since Wlad came into the game a few years after Lewis 7 to be exact, any of them will of course be older by the time they face Wlad. That also doesn't have to mean they have become that much worse then they were, for I'd take this Wlad over the one 7 years ago that fought Botha. Even though Wlad was way more aggressive back then, he wasn't even close to this fundamentally sound

 

I agree wlad is better now but he has beaten no one or done anything to suggest he could beat a prime lewis.

Well Wlad has beaten way more guys Lewis's height then Lewis has. In Thompson,Austin,McCline, Jefferson,Bostice, and a few more around 6'5. Most of which were KO in title fights as well. Who Wlad fights is not his fault at all. All he has been doing is fighting mandatory's and top ten guys or previous champs and winning. Do you need a head to fly off somebody's shoulder for it to be meaningful for him. With the exception of haye and his brother, who would you have liked him to fight during his time, keeping in mind he beat numerous fighters that were current title holders. And you cant say Povetkin or Valuev, cause they have not been so eager, or at least their management hasn't.Same goes for Hayes politics. And then there is the new crop which have just arrived so you can't say he should have beaten them. Like Boystov, Helenius,etc..
