Was checking out the opponent, Joey Abell, and he's taller (6'5 vs. 6'4) and in better condition than Chris.

Also, on his web page, looks like he's been KO'ing local guys all over the damn place.

How bad would that suck to get KO'ed, then have it all over the net?

    :bbb :!: :patsch

Arreola should be a big favorite in this fight. Abell is a basic fringe contender at best but he does have some pop. It should be a fun fight but Arreola ko's him. It would be good to see Arreola's weight in the mid 240s at worse but with this fight so close to the holidays I wouldn't be shocked to see Arreola come in at a career high which could make this fight closer than it should be.

This +1 when you take his training regiment and compound it with the holidays food (and considering our friend likes to eat) he is going to come it fat (really really fat, not just Chris Arreola Fat)

I wonderif Able can make him cry.

At least Arroela is stepping back down in order to build confidence and get some momentum back.

    Assuming he wins, that is.

I did a quick look and the heaviest Arreola has been is 263 against Minto. I have a bad feeling Arreola comes in heavier for this fight. I hope I'm wrong, I like Arreola, but I can see him coming in at 270+ for this fight.

Of course I thought he would run right over Minto, and that turned out to be a better fight than expected....

    Minto was 5'11 and 218.

Hope not that high, but I can see 260 like the Minto fight. He's a good fighter just doesn't have the work ethic of a champion. I gotta put some of the blame on his trainer. At some point somebody has to light a fire under him to get in top shape.

Turned out that Chris showed up in shape and whipped ass. That time with Shields was well spent.

What did you think of the fight?

    Was it what you expected?

What do you realistically think is next for Chris?

He still needs to drop another 20 pounds. I've said for a long time that at 230-235 Arreola would be a serious force in the division. The extra weight just flat out slows him down to much.

He looked much better than I expected, but you are right. Another 20lbs would be better.

Another thing I noticed is that his footwork isn't great and he was off balance/out of position when he threw shots sometimes. I know that happens to everyone and overweight guys are more susceptible to it.

Just imagine how much crisper and harder his punches would be if his technique was better. :boxx

Yep -- weight loss could only help his balance/technique.
