Bit non-Aussie but I'm after Aussie thoughts... Also, it's just something a little different to discuss in here. What do you guys think of Zab these days? Back when he fought Tszyu, his antics before and after the fight really gave me some serious disdain for the loud mouth. Came across as a real jerk. Lately though, I'd say from maybe, Mayweather onwards, even before possibly, he's really won me over and I find myself championing the guy. The interview with him from the front page of ESB is quite good and he seems to have calmed down alot, learnt some humility etc. I really hope that inside the ring, training under Whitaker he's found the focus and dedication he needs to go on and still make himself a P4P'er. How do you guys feel about him now? Do you think he can make any more major statements in boxing?
Honestly PorkChop. I like Zab these days and alot of hate gets sent his way. I also truely believe after watching his effort against Mayweather and Cotto if he had of stayed at 140 he would have ruled that division. Just cos how bad Hatton was against Southpaws. I mean 3 years ago i could not see Zab losing to guys like today at 140. He should have stayed there. And i can not fault Zab for taking the fights he does. Even though he always comes up short he take it head on. The Mayweather was my favorite i was rooting for Zab and i felt he won the first 4 rounds but i love the way he took the fight to PBF cos most let Mayweather have his way. But i believe if PBF gets beat it will be because of someone tking the fight to him. But after watching PBF in his last two fights the biggest risk i see PBF taking is a fight with some one like Alexander. Zab though after the Mayweather fight made me a fan of his.
Once he wins the IBF Light Welter title I think he still has enough skills to topple Alexander and Bradley and steamroll amir-con, but still i dont like him for all his Grill wearing gangster crap
It would take more than one good interview to change my opinion of Zab. First class douchebag wannabe gangster wanker, but with loads of talent, but not the mental toughness needed to stay on top. Maybe he has found some maturity, but I doubt it, and feel it is prob too late. He might recapture a belt, but I do not see a dominant reign and doubt he would successfully unify.
It's not just the one interview that's turned me. It's a couple over the years, his attitude has definitely changed. He takes on all comers and isn't afraid to fight anyone. Loads of skill, just needs to apply himself... Yeah he's got all that gansta **** going on but you know, it's a pretty big part of culture these days, like it or lump it, there are plenty of people who project that image who aren't tools too...
I am in absolute SHOCK. Some people suggesting that Zab Judah could beat Bradley, Alexander or Kahn. Give me a break. Other than a punchers chance they would all beat him imo. I don't mind Zab Judah myself, he is extremely talented and never ducks the tough fights against the best BUT he always comes up short (other than the 2nd Spinks fight) mainly because he doesn't have the mindset to be a great champion imo. He basically quit in the fight against Clottey which was for the IBF title at 147 i believe. Hopefully he has been sensible with his money (which I doubt) as he should have made quite a bit over the years. He would be a decent fight for any of the top guys at 140/147 but he ain't beating any of them imo.
Right............he's a delusional ****. I can't abide pricks like him whose ego is so ****ed up that they lie about the past. Like Mundine who said "Ottke's" got nothing after being KTFO. Judah said Tszyu wasn't that powerful after his chicken dance.
Totally agree. Mindset was Zab Judah's biggest downfall over the years. Hell the way he started vs Floyd was impressive. Possibly 1 of Floyds toughest fights in recent years. He just mentally didnt have it to maintain a game plan when Floyd made adjustments. I too dont think Zab beats any of the 4 Junior Welterweights - Bradley, Khan, Alexander or Maidana. He barely made it past borderline top 10'er Lucas Matthysse & Zab has seen better days.
I think the Light Welters of today are very much over-rated, Judah still has some pop and skills! Bradley jumps in with his head more than Rodal Mayol, Alexander showed how little heart he has on the weekend and Amir Kon is prime for the picking aslong as Judah can find his range and conter-act his speed.
Yeah I def don't write off Judah's chances against Alexander, Bradley and Maidana. He's got enough grit and skill to get through them if he's applied and shows some fortitude in his next fight or two... Khan, well, that's different. Khan is a big 140 and has speed plus reach as well as being very accurate. Bad fight for Judah maybe. It might not be the richest division talent wise, but there are alot of guys there that are all on par with each other to a degree, it'll be interesting to watch it unfold through the year and if there's another contender in the mix in Judah I'm all for it!
My hate for Khan far exceeds my hate for Judah and I agree, his hand speed is amazing!! My level of hate for him clouds my vision, he is a good boxer, quick as fu*k but not too long before he gets beaten badly again ala Prescott. Is anyone else hanging for this cheap fool to get KO'd again??
I think Judah still definately has a place at 140, it adds intrigue to the division. Alot of followers would like to see the new kids on the block test their skills against Zab. Judah would only have to recapture his form against Mayweather to give all these guys at 140 a lot of trouble - especially with his speed. Bradley, Khan and Alexander are worlds apart from Mayweather, but in saying that, Judah isnt exactly the same fighter either, but with age I think his mind might be more together and thats what let him down against Floyd.
I would also love to see Khan KTFO again. It will definitely happen sooner or later. He always looks very fragile to me and against top level/elite opposition he will get hurt often in fights.
