if that is the reason, then amir needs to stand up on his own and say this guy might rub some people up the wrong way, but he is ultimately a good thing for my career. hes a grown man for goodness sake.

why the hell would a guy want to get a signature? some security in case theres a disagreement and he is left in the lurch....oh wait....:-( .

nothing wrong with wanting to be paid for, what was by all accounts, a very good job

Getting paid is not the problem. It's just the manner in which he went about it. Khan's team have no problem with paying him, and I assume they eventually will do for his work in the Maidana fight. They just probably find it not so trusting to see a guy go behind their back to continuously hassle their fighter.

But I agree that perhaps Khan should stand up and say.... "Look guys, he made a mistake, let's forget about it. I still want him in my team."

But even then, we don't know the extent of the problem, and what else Ariza may have done to irritate people. One thing I now know, though, is not to make immediate assumptions. I guess we should just wait and see how this develops. I've been guilty in automatically demonizing Khan's whole team just because I don't like the look of that Asif Vali.

We don't know that though. In the same vein it's assumption in assuming they are portraying what happened in the correct light. This is purely just on the basis of what Team Khan are saying.

The thing is, he manages to operate just fine with other fighters. Wheras a fight doesn't go by without people complaining in disbelief/wanting to kill themselves at the sheer ridiculousness of Vali's incompetence and lack of experience. For me, I would be much more inclined to take the side of Ariza, based off this alone.

I don't think it will ever come clear. If the boxing journalists are to believe then the route of this is that they simply didn't like Ariza's influence, and basically saw this payment issue as a means of ending it.

Freddie won't comment on it further I don't think.

Ariza's continuing to make claims, so it won't be long before Khan's side respond with something in more detail. A few more interviews here and there and Roach being dragged into it, I think we'll be in a better position to judge. Right now we're just mainly hearing Ariza.

this is why id be willing to believe ariza. one problem, maybe, two maybe but when almost every person who deals with them has a problem id be inclined to doubt their version of events.

but hey, these things happen in boxing and business. If theres no way back i think they should just pay him the money and both move on

Perhaps, but again, there's no way we'll ever know what happened.

Ariza is saying one thing, Team Khan are saying another. Freddie isn't going to be able to say what actually happened.

Maybe he was hassling Khan to sign, maybe they wouldn't talk to him so he was forced to go to Khan, maybe he wasn't hassling at all and just mentioned it and Khan mentioned to them "Alex wanted me to sign something today".. maybe he was hassling.. you see it's impossible to ever look back at something like this and know the facts and say for sure "Yes, Ariza was hassling him", it's one persons word of an event over anothers.

In the end, the only way you can see sense is not by looking at the details of the claims, which are just based in perception and opinion. but by stepping back and thinking what is more likely based on things you do know.

Ultimately, it's Khan that loses out here. He's lost probably the best training and conditioning expert in the business, something you can't just go out and replace.

Oh, and that's not strictly true. I've always liked Ariza and I thought he's a pretty cool guy. But he's had a few run-ins with Pac's people. Koncz being one of them (who can blame him, though), as well as cut-man Diaz, who he's been a pretty big ******* to, forcing Khan to walk into Maidana's dressing room to personally apologise for that altercation in the ring.

    Ariza's no angel.

Well based on the things I know....
    • Khan's people having no problem in paying Ariza for the past 6 or so opponents.
    • Khan's people and Ariza getting on perfectly fine - numerous interviews with Shah and Amir praising the work of Ariza.
    • Ariza having a history of beef with other people.
    • Khan's team being amateurs.
    • Something happening inbetween the Malignaggi and Maidana fight, which seems to have altered the process of how Ariza gets paid.
Split 50/50 down the middle for me.

Maybe Khan has learned all he needs to learn from Ariza and doesn't need him any more.
We'll see. Maybe Khan can get himself into the same shape without him. It's his choice. Maybe a huge mistake. Maybe a smart move.

    No one else's business.

It could well be that at that time it changed to them having to pay Ariza seperately, at which point they felt he didn't deserve it.

For me, my opinions are skewed somewhat due to how I feel about Vali. If I was a boxer I would rather sign Don King to take care of my business affairs than him.

One thing I do know, is that Amir is better off with Alex, as oppose to without him. Despite his confrontations with managers and people alike, Alex does always seem to have the best interest of the fighters. He forms a close bond with them, which is pretty important in my opinion, and one of the reasons why I've grown to like him.

It is true that Ariza was never contracted to Khan and Freddie used to pay Ariza his side of the salary but this was due to change pre-Maidana fight.

That's why when Freddie says in the interview that Alex has a seperate contract with the fighters he is technically not lying because in essence now he does have a seperate contract with Pacquiao and Chavez.

In response to your other posts regarding "hassling" I would say the night before the weigh in where boxers tend to be a bit snappy due to making weight and all the training involved and picking a moment when Khan was on his own rather than saying it in front of his team or directly to his team AND the fact that he says Chavez and Pacquiao have signed it so you should too AND when Khan says he will get his team to look at it then sign Ariza still persists would add up to being "hassling" in my eyes.

I understand your bitterness towards Vali therfore I understand your slightly biased view but on this occasion this is not excuse making its the facts and to be honest with you I would have done the same. It's a shame they lost Ariza coz he is good but he is not one of a kind!!!
