see this is exactly what I mean. Path, TFFP, Beeston, Smudger, wrimc, and Lee Mc all respected posters on here and youve all said a simular thing "over rated, over hyped, not as good as people think etc"

but i don't see to many brits saying anything decent about him so how can he be over rated?

thing is I seem to remember people saying Jennings and McIntye would beat him. Infact a poll on here was 75% in McIntyers favour.

What's so slick about him? He's as stiff as a board as pathmanc said. He also thinks pulling his head back is a way of avoiding punches. Against Afrobums maybe, against proper fighters he's going to get nailed.

Kell Brook has a nice jab and right hand. And some handspeed. They are his redeeming features but he's not slick nor as powerful as he appears. His opponents are doing a lot of the work for him. It always worries me when any fighter fights loads of featherfists and glass jawed opponents.

I really like the kid, its a fair point that his opposition has been of low quality but you can only fight who gets put in front of u & he's beat them all. Everyone fights bums at the start of their career & he's still young. He looks solid, well-balanced & 2 handed. He can box a bit, he can punch & he's improving.

I remember the 1st fight of his I saw against McIntyre, he did a pull-counter & landed a straight right bang on the chin, quick as a flash & McIntrye went down. For a young guy & against a southpaw I thought wow, impressive & I've been a fan ever since.

He didnt look great against Jennings but, he hadnt fought for a while & getting a few rounds under his belt against an experienced opponent wont do him any harm at all. He's a top prospect but unproven, only time will tell at a world level but its clear that he's beyond domestic/euro level. If he stays out of trouble outside the ring he could definately be a world champ 1 day, even though he's in a tough division. His personna might put some people off but I hope his talent will convert you into fans.

75%? That's pure bull**** right there. Hardly anyone favored McIntyre, I remember it clearly. Maybe Scottish but thats it.

i think saying everyone he faced has been feather fisted and chinny is a bit over the top.

Mate I remember it clearly. Everyone was saying he will get knocked out by the real champion McIntrye after the Jones fight.

Is that why Kell Brook was 2/5 on? Stop talking bollocks mate. You're overexaggerating what a few zealous posters said. Brook was widely favored and rightly so, McIntyre has a horrible chin. Either way it hardly matters, McIntyre is not great and Jennings certainly was not favored by most people. Just because a few people fancied the underdog does not mean they shout loudest.

To be fair the McIntyre poll was pretty fair - Brook hadn't fought anyone barring a very average Barrie Jones (who'd beaten nobody of note before or since)..... whereas McIntyre had dominated Kevin Anderson twice in his last two contests.

I had Jennings beating Brook.... I'd probably been overrating Jennings, who didn't really show up on the night, and underrating Brook.

Kell hasn't proved that he's the best in Britain.... or perhaps another fighter has outshone him in the past couple of years. With promotional problems I doubt a Hatton/Brook fight will happen.

But Mad Matt has knocked over a couple of decent Euro names, far better than Bienias or whatever his name was..... and is putting his balls on the line vs Alvarez next time out.

He's definitely got potential.... but as mentioned there's lots of glaring weaknesses that he has been getting away with, but would be badly exploited by anyone in the top 10's of 140-154.

pointless. ive got no reason to take it up, more people on this forum thought McIntye would win.

either way this thread has only gone to prove the point I initially made which is that Brook is not over rated.

Great boxing skills, has done well agaisnt everyone he has been put in agaisnt which is all you can ask for. Could be and probably will be a world champion sooner rather than later. Need to see him in a war with a heavy handed puncher till we can decide whether he will be real world champion or just a foot note champion.

Bienas wasn't up to much but he was ranked no.2 by the WBO. Would have been foolish not to take the opportunity.

I think he looks OK, and has a good shout at picking up a strap somewhere down the line. Bit of power in both hands, solid jab and looks pretty awkward to face. The Jennings fight did him no favours although I thought he was looking pretty solid and would have went on to dominate. A guy at his supposed level should have faced a few superior fighters by now. I'd pick him to easily beat Hatton if they ever fought.

Certainly ain't writing him off yet :yep

I still don't believe it unless you can track down the thread. Which seems to have been lost, there are only a couple of threads one being a RBR the other just has a few comments about the fight. I've never seen 75% of people on this forum take a 7/4 underdog so I highly suspect you are talking shite at the moment.

Either way I'm not sure how it matters. He beat McIntyre...woohoo. He's beat Jennings and McIntyre which demonstrates he's much better than domestic class but thats obvious.
