I wasn't around then, but I would've went for Malignaggi. I didn't become big on Cotto until I saw him fight Margarito, so I don't imagine I would've supported him the same amount during this part of his career. Malignaggi I always liked, somehow even after seeing him for the first time in the N'Dou rematch.

Yea usual suspects Froch, Marquez bro's, Cotto plus Munroe and always liked Yuri Gamboa since he won me a £30 bet early in his pro career he'd be world champion. You get some circumstances like JMMarquez-Barrera/Katsidis Froch-Kessler etc where its a hope he wins but wouldnt be complete disaster if he didnt depending on circumstances

You could have just taken my one:

''When I post these lists I take it as a given that there isnt any need to put Euro-athletes in them as it's obvious anyways.''

So you don't understand a mexican wanting a mexican champ? Or a german wanting a german champ?

I take it you don't understand why spaniards wanted nadal to win the australian open?

Maybe I phrased it wrong, I see where people are coming from but I personally have never supported somebody based on their nationality. Hence, two of my favourite fighters at the moment are from Venezuela and Nicaragua respectively. I just dont get following somebody to a higher degree than you would have origionally because of where they're from.

You seem to be taking offence to this in some way, which there is no need for. It's just my viewpoint, and I wasnt attcking anybody else's.

Offense? God no I don't get offended on here, that would be rather silly imo.

I was merely seeking understanding as I don't understand why you would want someone to beat your countryman. It baffles me.

Like I said, I look at it as an individual sport. I like a fighter because of their abilities in the ring, not their nationality. If Acosta, who I've been a massive supporter of for a while, were to fight Andy Murray, who I have a passing interest in, no way would I support Murray, why would I? It makes no sense to me. I would be baffled if a Scottish person who had been a hardcore Barrera follower for years decided to support Ricky Burns instead of him just because of where he was from. Maybe I'm the odd one out here but I dont see why it should matter.

Fernando Montiel and Rafael Marquez are two that I would always back to the hilt.

I used to be mad for Jose Luis Castillo as well (no homo).

Cotto and Marquez are my top two.

There's a fair few others that I'm a fan of across the weight classes.

If a Brit is fighting one of my faves then I'll back 'my' fighter. Otherwise I'll back all Brits at world level.

If I'm not a fan of either fighter I just hope for a good fight. You don't really have to be root for someone to enjoy a fight.

I have to root for someone in every fight lol. I usually go for the underdog unless it is an englishman vs a non english man.
