Different eras. And Fischer would likely lose to a prime Kasparov.

It really is impossible to tell with these two prime for prime, Karpov was essentially Kasparov's equal so you have to throw him in the mix here also.

Karpov was strong and played Kaspa on nearly even terms in their career series, but Kaspa held a 2800 FIDE for nearly a decade, something Karpov never acheived. Kaspa was also at his peak in the 90's, well after his primary games with Karpov.

Kaspa/Fischer in their primes would have great--both otherworldly tacticians.

Sorry 2confuse you, this is a wind-up, they were actual chess players. The Byrne-Fischer game was played when Bobby Fischer was a kid (13 I think) against an adult grandmaster & is referred 2 as 'the game of the century', its probably the most famous single game of chess ever played.

Greatest ever chess 'match' is Kasparov vs Karpov for the world championship in 1985. Kasparov winning in an epic after 30 odd games.

Would have been the greatest game, just something to consider here...
Kasparov had a lot more support from the 'Soviet chess machine' than Fischer ever recieved. Also, after the candidate cycle before his match with Spassky, after beating Taimanov & Larson 6-0 Fischer had a provisional FIDE rating of over 3000! Something I dont think will ever equalled. :deal
In a fist fight I'd go with Gary, Bobby looks a bit fragile 2 me.:!:

Terry Marsh was a junior chess champion, I'd pick him to beat all the above mentioned fighters at chess and all the above mentioned chess players at boxing.
