Whenever you see the words "Chavez Jr" on here, they are very often followed with words like "overrated" and "overhyped". My question is, where are all these supposed boxing fans and journalists that are overrating him and overhyping him? If anything he seems to be underrated, everyone thinks he is a bum, now I don't expect him to ever beat the top guys and he's far from anything special. Even the Mexicans concede that he isn't a great fighter. So what's the deal? As far as I can see virtually nobody rates him. I know Roach has recently hyped him up but the words of a fighters trainer obviously can't be taken seriously.

True. No-one is calling Chavez Jr a great fighter or future great fighter. Roach may have said he thinks he can beat Martinez, but he also said Jr will never be near as good as his pops.
I'm with you, the guy is crapped on by everyone though he's at worst a C class fighter and in the current Middleweight division thats top 25...

Yeah, I notice this too. If everyone hates you and thinks you're **** and you're a fair B- level fighter, you are not overrated. He's obviously hyped, but, well, of course he is. He inherited it and he's taken advantage.
Yes, he is underrated, does that mean I said he is a great fighter? Your reading comprehension leaves a lot to be desired. He's considered a bum by everyone, he'll be a gatekeeper at worst.
