Personally I think he has been rushed into the mix a little early. It was what a little over 2 years ago when he looked good in beating Demarcus Corley. All of a sudden he gets thrown into the mix. I mean he's 22 years old. To me he didn't impress in beating Witter and only impressed me in spots against Urango. Makes a lot of noise and flash but with little impact.

To me he is a case of style over substance. He has evreything he needs- fast hands, a nice variety of punches for a southpaw and above average foot-movement. However he does not put them together well and not just against Bradley, in previous fights (most notably against Kotelnik). I know HBO want him in a big fight next but I honestly believe he should try and get 2-3 fights this year. Against guys with winning records and over 50% KO ratios. To build confidence and try to put it all together, its not just gonna happen overnight. Its all there from him he just needs to be more complete and really start stepping into his shots more. He was throwing get of me shots against Bradley from the offset- there is something mental there too. Perhaps something like a sports psychologist would benefit him. You can't fight like that against elite fighters and win, you need to tag them.

Anyway thats just my thoughts. Opinions?

I don't see how thats a excuse. I don't think he would have the style to beat Bradley when he is peaking, not like he's gonna do it now. He beat two limited guys in Urango and Witter and won a bs decision against Kotelnik. Not the most impressive credentials but he clearly has great potential and has shown flashes of excellence. He just needs to make some changes and I don't see a benefit to throwing a 22 year old against someone like Maidana. True he has a chance of beating the Argentine because of his wildness but its a significant ask.

I wish Bradley-Alexander would of been built up for a l8r date, but they did it. Devon is very very good with amazing skills. Like Desert Storm stated, the younger Alexander should become a world champion again.

I think we've seen the best out of him, honestly.

Young or not, he's had nearly 350 fights between his amateur and pro career. Yet, I don't see the polish and generalship that he should have to show for that much experience. He also doesn't show the ring IQ to make me think he can adapt and improve off of a loss. There's a deceptive amount of mileage on him already so it's going to be tough to break the bad habits he's got in the ring.

He isn't 22. He turns 24 this month. But yeah, he is still very young.

He lost to Kotelnik, but thought the judges would give him another gift vs. Bradley. He is not that good at all.
