What do you consider as Mercer's prime? After all the Lewis fight was 5/4 years; 72/60 rounds after Morrison and Holmes fights and he was fourteen pounds heavier than in his previous Holyfield match.

Ducking is a strong word but Lewis didn't want to and did not fight southpaws on his entire pro career. Or did he? I'm not 100% sure.

& who were the southpaws he could have faced?

    moorer? byrd? sanders?

i don't think those 3 would look any better on his resume than who he did beat...& none were really realistic if you look at the timing of when they could have happened.

No way Wlad avoids being hit for 12 rounds against someone of Lewis' calibre, and Lewis hit HARD. He never had to grind anyone down for 10 rounds before he had to KO them. He could take you out in the blink of an eye, as the likes of Tyson, Ruddock, Rahman, etc would testify. Only reason he didn't do the same to Vitali was because Vit has enough chin for him and his brother and some guys just refuse to be knocked out (Wlad isn't one of them). Wlad only looks like a world-beater against one-dimensional fighters, but Lewis was in a different league to anyone he will ever face, and he was capable of changing strategy mid-fight when things weren't working for him, unlike anyone Wlad has faced. Klit fans hold up this version of Wlad as some kind of monster but he hasn't knocked anyone out early in nearly 4 years. Take away that jab, and Lewis would most definitely take it away, and Wlad is an average fighter with an average chin. If Lewis unretired right now and could get in shape and was motivated, I'd still pick him to beat Wlad at least 5 times out of 10 even at the age of 45.

Prime Lewis wins by brutal KO early-mid rounds. He would hit Wlad so hard his kids would be born with concussion.

I remember it was Vitali who hurt Lewis first with a righthand in round two, Waldimir is faster and has a more powerful right, so it would have been bye, bye, too Lewis...

This supposedly all-conquering version of Wlad hasn't knocked anyone out early since Ray Austin almost 4 years ago so how do you figure he beats an ATG early at this point?

Wlad's punches are more predictable than Vitali's. Also, since when does Wlad unleash powerful rights early in a fight? Moreover, Wlad would probably not even last as deep into round 2 as Vitali did. Vitai at least dodges incoming punches. Wlad simply clinches when someone gets to close. He doesn't block, he doesn't slip. Sometimes he moves straight back, which would normally work, but against Lewis it would spell doom. So Wlad has nothing in his defensive arsenal to keep Lewis off of him. He can try to use offense to keep Lewis of of him, but Lewis who is a better counter-puncher with better, more varied footwork then Wlad would take advantage of that too. Wlad is a very good fighter, but he's basically just a second rate version of Lewis. Lewis was just that great; as opposed to Wlad who is merely very good.

Should I disagree and come up with some hendo bull**** on Lewis on everything you wrote then?

That ref probably saved thousands of Lewis' braincells by stopping it when he barely stayed on his feet. There was nothing wrong about it, quite the opposite. Just look what happened to Khan in Prescott fight and add Atomic Bull to that equation.

I like good fights but I'm fed up with refs who just watch by when fighter is about to get hospitalized. That's one thing where UFC and SF are way a head of boxing.

(probably meant that he wasn't in shape)

Loss is a loss and being out of shape and unprofessional sounds much worse than getting knocked out with beautiful punch from blind spot.

Those leaded to that loss but I personally see his attitude combined with some sort of bad ass showboating being the main reason for eating that punch.

Yeah, and we also have Lewis who turned down $40 000 00 instead of training for nine weeks with Steward, going for two week press tour and taking an 'easy' rematch in front of millions of boxing fans.

If he wasn't in need of extra money I bet that charities and foundations he supports like Muhammad Ali Parkinson Center would've been very happy of that donation.

I'll stop here before I actually start to belief that I don't like Lennox. These forums dig up weird and shitty sides from us.

I hear there are still some available for punctuation and basic writing skills. You should think about it.
