if bradley could fight at a lower weight he'd be almost perfect

Bradley won't discourage Maidana from coming forward. I think the fight with these two would be close.

The only guy I hate more than Tim is "Son of God" Ward but I cannot deny that I think the guy is one talented SOB(and yes that did hurt to type that)

As I suspected though, Bradley the Unstoppable, Bradley the Versatile and Bradley the Skilled Trapper never showed up.

What did you make of his performance?

 

i hate this idea of cuting to a unnatural weight to gain advantages i prefer fighters that make their body type work for them.also bradley has decent power not enough to seriously hurt an opponent but enough to keep them honest

 

Nice bloke, but I’ve never taken a liking to him as a fighter. I’ve tried to, I really have. He’s the best of 140 and is a world-class fighter with well-rounded abilities, but I just don’t share the same enthusiasm for him like others seem to do on here. And that fight on Saturday just confirmed it for me. Whilst he didn’t do much wrong, he didn’t do anything special either. I don't think he's as skilled as everyone makes out, but he's ok. He’s always been like that – just a good fighter with exceptional stamina and an iron-will. This makes him a difficult opponent for anyone bar the Mayweathers and Pacquiaos.

But one main thing though, his ****ing Robocop head coupled with his wild dinosaur-like arms scrapping away on the inside, makes for unpleasant viewing. I have serious gripes with his consistent habit of headbutting opponents. They may not be deliberate, but that’s no excuse. He’s really careless with that shiny dome, and it’s not fair for his opponents to have to deal with that.

Oh, and I'm a fan of Andre Ward.

Strange, I know. But I appreciate him more than Bradley because I think he's more skilled, and does show glimpses real quality on the inside. But he needs to cut that **** out with his head, else I'm gonna grow to resent him too.

 

Carmen Basilio was a short ****er, Joe Walcott was even shorter.

 

rico i think his sog nickname and how he keeps getting to fight at home that got my goat up. I think your assessment of bradley is spot on.

 

Walcott is a great shout; 5'2 and beat one of the top 'Heavyweights' of the time, 180lb Choynski.

 

I think he would give Maidana angles. Better footwork then Khan and also good he would hit Maidana on way in and move. His upper body movement early against Alexander was class.

I agree with Mandanda, Bradley would give Maidana angles and have him reaching in with the right hand too much.

Even when it does land it won't be on the meaty part of the swing and will be open to countering.

With Bradley, the use of the head is frustrating, the only opponent recently to offset that to any great degree was Witter - mainly because when he throws his hooks he naturally takes a short step back and throws them at an angle.

Was quite clever of Khan to notice that the uppercut is a good way to keep Bradley ''clean'' - not sure his footwork is good enough to replicate those tactics, given that he's more of a straight shooter with both hands rather than an all round puncher.

 

Correct me if I'm wrong. From memory, it was Johnny Nelson that said to use the uppercut - Khan basically just repeated what he said verbatim.

 

I noticed Khan, on a few occasions in the Maidana fight, throwing combos whilst stepping/leaning back. The shot which he's thinking of is the one he landed in the Malignaggi fight - a nice right uppercut.

But Bradley might not be so easy to catch. His upper body movement is quite good on the inside.

 

I remember Nelson mentioning something about stepping back to catch him with combos. Khan chipped in by mentioning an uppercut, something which he thought Alexander should have been doing instead of leaping into meet Bradley in clinches.
