1)I do love ali, I'm not gonna lie I'm biased. But you also seem terribly biased AGAINST him

2)I do agree that you can't read too much into the sparring session yet...

3)...it happened! It's not a myth. And there is no evidence, ZERO, that it was staged. Bring something forward other than a theory, cause this is about facts my man. And I don't think people are trying to guess what ingo or ali were thinking, but you seem to be reading between lines that aren't there

No, he was deeply immersed in the plot to elevate little known Clay to stardom. He was a member of Opus Dei, don't you know? And the connections from Opus Dei to the catholic Dundee brothers is easy enough to see, and they in turn was connected to the mob, who was in cahoots with the Louisville group who sponsored Clay. It all formed a neat little circle.

Or it just happened just like the film of it shows.

    I have taped film.

You can't read anything from it, other than Cassius Clay is fast, and he flicked
several quick, but with no-force jabs, as he was moving back-wards.

And 2-weeks later, in the same Auditorium versus Donnie Fleeman, Cassius Clay was
boo'ed from the boxing fans, as he could not floor a 184 lb. Fleeman, who by the
way was laughing at Clay for pretty much all 6 rounds.

I haven't seen it myself, but until I do you'll forgive me for putting more trust in the account's of others who've seen it, since you can't exactly be faulted for having the most un-biased view when it comes to Clay/Ali;).

Perhaps a 4-0 Clay or even Donnie Fleeman should have been challenging Patterson instead of Ingo !

As it was, Ingo still managed to deck Patterson and give him a rough night.

The thing is that noone here has claimed that Clay at that time would beat Ingo.

    I don't see why not.

Johansson was good in 1958 and '59, but after that he wasn't. He was never big on training and discipline, and after he won the title he went totally soft. Then Patterson knocked the stuffing out of him in 1960.
Johansson was nothing by this time. Clay might well have been able to beat him.

I love the story that there were no Heavyweights available.

Miami Beach, February 1961.......the place was littered with fighters.
The prime time for tourism, and fights at The Auditorium, Convention Center and The Convention Hall.

Harold Conrad, was the same guy who created and milked the Black Muslims
coming up from New York to kill Muhammd Ali in Lewiston, or threaten Sonny Liston.

Cassius Clay to take another easy fight. To be held on Tuesday Night, at the Auditorium, and promoted by Chris Dundee.
The 1960 Gold Medal winner will be taking on one Donnie Fleeman, a
    6' 2" Light Heavyweight impersonating a Heavyweight.

I think Fleeman once went ten rounds with Rademacher, and even beat the great Willi Besmanoff. So, I'd be surprised if he wasn't on Cus D'amato's hit list for Patterson at some time or another.

OPUS DEI,,,,,,,,,very well put, my Christian friend,,,,,,,,

Just reviewed the sparring session. Held at the The Auditorium.
    on 2/6/61.
Cassius Clay was very thin, whippet-like, (190 lbs.)

Ingemar had just arrived in Miami Beach, to start his 5-week training regimen for his 3/13/61 Title Fight.
He looked heavy and thick, probably close to 220 lbs., a good 20+ pounds
    over his prime fighting weight.

According to the film footage, there looks to be approximately 1000
    people in attendance.

The next night, Tuesday 2/7/61, Cassius Clay knocked out one
Slim Jim Robinson in the 1st Round.

He looked quite bad in the actual title fight as well. Find it strange that Floyd had the trouble he did with him.
