He boxed Karoly Lakatos, 9-26 according to boxrec, which has "no data" on the other guy mentioned in Stapleton's article.
He's not getting better with age, he was retired by Murray and is now totally exposed. A gutsy little fella but Oisin always talked himself up better than he was/is.
Bar giving Spadafora a good fight, what's his best achievement? He's fought some truly awful opposition.
Since the Khan mismatch, he was beaten by Eddie Hyland (in a great fight) and battered by Murray. The four other opponents he fougth since then have a combined record of 28-100.
The article says ***an "produced one of his best performances". Frankly, given the opposition, that's laughable.

I am saying that the only two decent ones he has met since the Khan mismatch have beaten him - one HAMMERED him - and the others were absolute duds. Now we have an article after he decisions a 9-26 eastern European roadsweeper saying he "produced one of his best performances".

granted he has his limitations but taking spadafora the distance was no small achivement. he also took julio ceaser chavez the scheduled 4 at the start of chavez's career.

 

on a completely different subject - i see there's a lot of debate on the impact that ariza being sacked will have on khan and it got me thinking about the benefit mike mcgurn had on bernard dunne. i hadn't heard of him being linked with any boxers since which i thought was strange, you'd think people would be banging down mcgurns door when they heard that he was a massive contributor to a guy outside the top 10 winning a world title...

btw - don't see the ariza thing effecting khan too much

 

the article represents ***an's claim....he said he is better now because he doesnt get hit as much and that he is now learning the basics because he teaches the kids..Phil Sutcliffe said it was one of his best boxing performances. Nothing to do with the opposition but about how he applied himself...the best performance jibe represents the more patient apporach and variety of punches used...

***an never claimed to be a good boxer never mind a world beater- he states he is all about heart-so its not hard to improve on heart, adding a little skill to his game means he is a better performer now. thats all.
