I think it's because the magazine wasn't in operation throughout the course of the entire year (it was in the process of changing ownership during that time). I know they awarded FOTY and Fighter of the Year awards after the fact. KO Magazine did a KO of the year award in ;91...Their awards weren't always identical, but one could use that as their choice instead, if worse came to worse.
1990's KO of the Year should have been Julian Jackson-Herol Graham or Razor Ruddock-Michael Dokes. 1991- Ray Mercer's near beheading of Tommy Morrison? 2002 should have been James Toney-Jason Robinson.
