There are some mma fighters that want to fight with fists but those arent world class fighters.
What the **** would Mayweather do with hes defence in mma?
Then again any of those mma guys throwing those wild hooks would get ****ed by mean uppercuts.

One of the things you have to understand is that a technically sound boxing stance is all wrong for MMA - your weight isn't distributed properly to defend against takedowns and your legs are to exposed to kicks. Plus the question of range is completely difference given the addition of kicks and clinch striking. So a guy leading with striking shouldn't pass any boxing technique assessments because the rules are so different. As it happens there are plenty of world class fighters that lead with their hands - and Silva is one of them.

Who cares? Boxers are clearly the best at boxing. But if you allow grappling, any really good grappler will get to the leg of a boxer (unless he gets tagged on the way in). I'm not talking about a striker experienced in MMA. I'm talking about a boxer. Once the boxer's down, end of the fight.

If they are forced to stand and box he's right. Not so much the case with kick boxers. Some of them became boxing champions, like Troy Dorsey and James Warring, and Vitali of course.

I still don't believe in the law of "boxing guy wins in a stand up fight". Everyone seems to think "oh, if this guy comes into the ufc and they try to stand with him, they'd have no chance" and it's so not true. For one, your defense has to be different because of the gloves, and your timing is going to be well and truly ****ed. It's not the leg kicks, it's not the ground game either, I genuinely believe just because a boxer has the experience, he's not immediately going to knock everyone out on their feet in MMA, it's all different.

Can't disagree. The same is true in the opposite (as long as the MMA guy isn't overly dependent on strikes). It is just silly. At best either guys "shot" in either guys arena is based in luck.

A "big" guy in rugby can outrun an American football lineman. Doesn't say much about anything.

Maybe holds true for a come forward Brawler, but a Boxer Puncher with a 1-2? EVERYONE will go to sleep who tries to stand and use hands only. Just like EVERY Boxer will get taken down and submitted.

A Boxer's defense would not be changed much. The smaller the gloves the less blocking and more catching. That is the only thing that will be different. Your comment on timing is misplaced too as Boxers train and fight in various sized gloves. Smaller gloves will be an advantage not a detriment.

Agreed, but if an MMA guy, even a ELITE striker tries to stand up and stand up only with a Boxer? He will go to sleep.
