No. Boxing is about using your attributes to negate and overcome another guys attributes. Fighting is a tactic within Boxing, but it is just a tactic and should be used/not used as needed.

No. The guy who knows how to "fight" used a tactic. If that guy who knows how to "fight" got into the ring with a stronger, faster, better proportioned (arm length, height, etc...), etc... guy who's tactic was to "fight", but he was an inferior Boxer? The guy in your example better switch it up quick. If he doesn't/can't? It isn't Boxing.

listen, boxing is about putting gloves on your fists, stepping into the ring against an opponent, and winning the boxing match. Whether you do it by slugging, countering, swarming, offense, defense, slick, or stiff... the one who wins is the better boxer on the night.

No. You can "fight" in a Boxing ring. Against a superior Boxer you will get your ass handed to you 10 our of 10 times. If you are a Boxer and realize you need to use "fighting" as a tactic then it can work. Why? Because you are still Boxing, just roughing the guy up. Even the most crude EFFECTIVE "fighters" are Boxers FIRST. If you can't switch it up you are just meat getting ground up. So like I said, fighting is a TACTIC of a Boxer. Your raw definition of fighting (as it pertains to the original post I responded to) has no place in Boxing other than to get bums knocked out and Boxers "good work".

Going by the TS's silly argument he would just love to bums to throw on gloves and wing punches at each other as long as it is bloody and brutal. Hell, having them not conditioned properly makes for an even more mistake laden brutal affair. Hell lets give them a few drinks to to pump up their courage! By that BS standard he can go watch a Tough Man competition and get his blood fix. That isn't being a fan of Boxing.

 

They're making it seem as if a fighter were to step in the ring, fire off combo's and KO his opponent, it means he's not a pure boxer but a puncher/slugger. LOL.

You entirely miss the point. Is grabbing random untrained bums off of the street matching them by weight, slapping gloves on them, and letting them bash each others' brains out "Boxing"? :huh

 

No preference for me as long as they are beating the best fighters in their primes. No excuses. I dont care for styles but I do appreciate technical cerebral fighters because they are a dime a dozen. Like watching a skilled samurai vs a berserker viking. no style is the best it only matters how you apply it and to whom. Martinez, golovkin, and lara are fighters I am quickly becoming a fan of.

 

If they're boxing under the sanctioning rules, then yes. Just because a fighter chooses to be more aggresive and seek a KO rather than dance, potshot, and jab for 12rnds doesnt mean he's not a "boxer". Its just a different style of boxing.

 

I appreciate a good scrap. That is Boxing. I don't appreciate two guys with ZERO skill but a willingness to become human punching bags pummel each other into oblivion. That is not Boxing.

Well you are wiling to call anything Boxing and anyone a Boxer.I am not at all saying I dislike a good Pressure, Swarming, or any other type of Offensive Boxer as long as the guy has a good grounding in Boxing.

I am just saying that two skill-less bums beating the snot out of each other to satisfy some strange blood fetish ain't Boxing 9 (to me).
