With his FNF tonite it got me thinking how poorly managed this guy is

    Won contender 05

did nothing with it and beat nobody ranked

08 managed to get a title shot though he really didnt deserve it

he upsets Forrest becoming one of 2 men to ever defeat him

    Same year he is defeated

    sits out til 2010

beats an unranked guy in a decent tune up of sorts

same yr he drew Mosley and looked good

so next fights Mosley gets Pacman after the draw
    Mora gets Vera

Mora got his fame in 05 and hasnt became a superstar and betrween 05 and 11 he only has 2 signature opponents and is 1-1-1

Why did he win a belt lose it and then sit out 2 yrs and squander the last of his 20's he finally got the biggest attention of his career and blew it

if he could draw a guy like Shane who many can agree is out of his level what could he have done during that 2 yr span

    he needs a better manager

Well hes a **** fighter. Got a couple big fights and is still be talked about even though he hasn't done **** but Draw with Mosley won one fight with a old Forrest (R.I.P).

So yeah I would say hes getting managed pretty good considering his skill level.

That is the hole in my argument but i dont think he is terrible as a fighter

im just saying he at his high water mark in 08 sat out 2 yrs and after a big fight with Shane where he drew and did well he goes and fights Vera

and Mosley gets Pacman and maybe a career high pay day

He has a weird style. One of those styles that no one looks good against him so fighters avoid him.

Plus hes kind of big headed and goes after the biggest pay day he can even if he has to sit out. No?

He is featherfisted but he is also awkward and weird. I think he is a good boxer. He is at 160 now and his promoter is golden boy why not match him up with danny jacobs or try to get pirog, I know Pirog would love to fight him since he really wants to fight in the us.
The story behind the 2 years is that he was scheduled to fight pavlik but pavlik pulled out yet the fight remained possible, mora didnt want to ruin his chance so he waited for pavlik to be ready so they could fight, never happened though.

It's not his manager's fault. The guy has a very high risk/ low reward factor. He'll make anyone look bad even in beating him due to his very annoying style of boxing. The greatest manager ever couldn't help this guy since no one wants to fight him and I don't blame other fighters for not wanting to fight the guy, the guy fights shamefully. Runs and holds and herky jerks around like a clown. terrible to watch, I'd rather watch John Ruiz.

never knew that about waiting for Pavlik. And Pirog would be interesting an American draw but not a great fighter

we will see how Pirog would do vs a guy who can make anybody look bad

Sergio Mora screwed himself pretty bad when he backed out of a fight with Jermain Taylor. Mora backed out and Jermain fought Cory Spinks with Pavlik/Miranda on the undercard. Mora backed out because he did not believe he could win a decision in Memphis.

Pavlik and Mora were suppose to fight in the spring of 2009. The only person related to Team Pavlik who liked the idea was Bob Arum. Pavlik was in the process of negotiating a new deal with Top Rank, and the fight disappeared. We first heard about Pavlik's staph infection about this time, but I do not believe for a second that the infection stopped this fight. Pavlik's new deal with Top Rank gave him control over who he would fight, and I believe Kelly and Jack Leow made this stinker go away.

I just watched Forest/Mora 1 yesterday. Vernon looked soft and disinterested. Mora looked pretty sharp. I've seen Mora fight many times, and I beleive that was his best performance.

However, Mora does not belong at 154. He's only had 3 fights at that weight. His record there is 1-1-1, and only one of those fights was a good performance. Tehchnically Mora has only two fights at 154 because he weighed in at 157 for the Mosely fight.

Mora is a middleweight; PERIOD! Love him or hate him, he is a legit contender who would give a lot of guys some serious problems. He is a bit like Malinaggi in the respect that if he had decent power he'd be pretty dangerous.

If he gets past Vera tonight, I'd like to see him fight David Lopez, and the Lee/McEwan winner. However, he probably wouldn't get past Lopez.

Sergio Mora is one of the most underrated guys out there. Don't forget he beat Vernan Forrest.

It's not just his management though. He pulled out of an undeserved title fight against Jermain Taylor way back when because he didn't want the fight to be in Memphis. Then he had a signed fight with Kelly Pavlik later on that Pavlik pulled out of. And there was a contract dispute with former promoter Jeff Wald that kept him on the sidelines for a while. Plus he's just god awful to watch. So a lot of is is either his fault or someone else's fault.

Mora has minimal natural talent and decent skill. He has a boring counter punching style as he has no power.

    But

    he is multimillionaire.

So how and the **** is this guy poorly managed? If anything he has carved out a nice career for himself. Because there are plenty of guys who are and were far more talented that never saw the big fights or made the big money like this guy did.
